As what the title says, when I try to update AMD Radeon 6600M and 6700M Series, AMD Radeon HD 6520G, upon restarting my computer I get the BSOD.
The reason for updating is when I look in Device Manager Both those "Display adapters" have yellow exclamation marks. Also when my computer starts up I get an AMD catalyst error "No AMD Graphics Driver installed, or the AMD Driver is not functioning properly".

Side note - I'm not very good computer stuff.

Hello and welcome Soramage now first up did you uninstall the old version first before updating the new driver?

Can you get into safe mode if so run these

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html < use the /f option in Option 2 ifnecessary

If you have access to another machine maybe you could try downloading the older version of that driver onto a stick and again if you are lucky be able to reinstall it onto the machine.
By the way why did you update if you don't mind me asking.
In a bit I shall be offline so please be patient if I do not respond when you have checked these out. Someone else might pick it up anyway.

thanks for the help.
1. I uninstalled the driver before installing the new version.

2. The file checker ran and came up with "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations".

3. I ran the disk checker when I restarted my computer but wasn't able to see the results.

4. I was looking into a problem about my computer crashing whilst I was playing a game and it said to update my graphics drivers, also windows update and device manager both said there were updates available for the driver. AMD Catalyst came up with the error.

No it is ok mate there doesn't look to be much wrong in the report either, so I am guessing we can say the filing system is ok at least.
What I don't get though is why there are two graphical devices or am I reading it wrong??
If you want a really detailed look at the components have a look at my ditty here

Using HW Info general components

Download HW Info andpick the right bit version - HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download -(or copy and paste this site into the search bar) If you do not need the runninginformation in the smaller right hand panel close it. In the left hand windowclick on the + for the individual device groupings and they will open out tothe various components.

Go on opening out furtheruntil you get to the device itself. click on it and it will highlight. In theright hand window there will be a very detailed description of that device asin brand, speeds model number etc etc These are very detailed and are just whatis needed for searching for drivers etc.

See my pic for anexample - in this I have opened out one my components and then highlighted one of the one you need andyou can see the detail. - I have included two pics so you can see what I mean:)
I shall be most interested in what thee is in the video adaptor +

Ok now I have one coming up as a dedicated card and the other seems to be aninbuilt (on the board) graphics.
Now I am at a disadvantage because one is coming as a dedicated GPU (card) and to be honest I have never had to deal with a card I in a laptop.

Right now I am wondering what driver you have installed becausethere are two the one for the card is this
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows%207%20-%2064
the APU (chip) one you will need to run this yourself as I am not sure ofwhat the processor comes under in Step 3.
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download it might be a graphics device driver that might not work alongside the card driver but I am really guessing here.

if we cannot define just what you have I might ask one of the really clued up graphics members to have a look for us.

Er... I'm not really sure what you're asking me to do in this

Download Drivers it might be a graphics device driver that might not work alongside the card driver but I am really guessing here.

I don't know if I should do this but a factory reset might be a temporary fix.

Now it is not a temporary fix it is permanent so if you have any data you really need you had better back it up before you go there:)

If you want an alternative to the factory default the this is the best there is and the ISO will be the freshest version of Windows available (not so many updates as the system will have them as normal) - just make sure if you do use this you only use the ISO for the version of Windows you have installed originally. (see my pic)
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html#post1839164
another plus is that it will get rid of all the bloatware you might have on the machine,

If the system is just not working enough for you to get data backed up the see this ditty of mine.

BOOTABLE UBUNTU

Make a bootable Ubuntu disk http://www.ubuntu.com/download

Set the BIOS to boot from the optical when the machine boots it will show you a screen with TRY or INSTALL >select TRY. You can of course remove the hard drive and any other drives when doing this as if the optical alone is the only drive left in the machine then the BIOS will only find it to boot from.

When it is finished - it takes very little time you will get a screen like in the pic .

Open the drive you want > User and dig down until you get to the data / settings you may be able to copy / paste the material you want to an external source or other installed drive doing this.

I am not sure if it will but I have recovered tons of data etc using this method both on "dead" or just plain drives that you cannot get data from using Windows.

So to summarise use Ubuntu to back up and the 7 tutorial to install

Well if it has solved the problem - yes you only need to click on the Solved button on the thread it should just put a green tick on the thread:)

But if you get any further problems preferably start a new thread instated of diving back into this one - it saves a lot of confusion for the most part:)
