Solved AHCI mode not in BIOS - URGENT

Hi,

I have a Windows 7 Professional computer and I need to change the SATA mode from IDE to AHCI. The BIOS does not have an option to change the mode to AHCI. I have tried everything, from trying to install AHCI drivers (didn't work) and trying to edit registry files (changing all AHCI group files' start values to 0). Nothing has worked.
I would appreciate any help - this is urgent!

Are you sure, how old is this pc ?

Usually under the Advanced tab you`ll see a bunch of options, one says sata configuration, if you click on that it may pop up a sub menu.

AHCI
RAID

Not too old. Around 2009. But specs are pretty good - Intel Core 2 Quad, 2.5 ghz, 8Gb RAM (only 4 usable), NVIDIA GeForce 8400.
It's not there under advanced options. The tab "SATA Configuration" doesn't exist either, but registry files specify that the computer is using IDE. Any thoughts?

Well if there`s no AHCI in the bios, then I don`t know.

But there is a tutorial on here on how to enable AHCI in windows, but I`m not sure if it`ll work if it`s not in the bios.

You don`t loose much speed. Why are you trying to change it anyway, did you put windows on an ssd ?

I am trying to install an entirely new operating system, which needs the AHCI mode to continue.

Windows 7 is the best OS ever made

Mac OS X. Trying to make a Hackintosh.
Needs AHCI to recognize the hard disk to wipe and install OS X.

Download and run AS SSD Benchmark (no need to start benchmark). On upper left in green text what does it write?

Also if you give motherboard manufacturer and model, maybe we can check manual to see if there is such option. It is possible that your mobo only allow RAID mode which is a subset of AHCI.

From Manual page 4-4:

Native Mode Operation​

Select Serial ATA for SATA or select Auto (Native Mode) for ATA. The options are:​

Serial ATA and Auto.

Serial ATA (SATA) RAID Enable (C2SBA+II Only)​

Select Enable to enable Serial ATA RAID Functions. (For the Windows OS
environment, use the RAID driver if this feature is set to Enabled. When this item
is set to Enabled, the item: "ICH RAID Code Base" will be available for you to select
either Intel or Adaptec Host RAID firmware. If this item is set to Disabled, the item-
SATA AHCI Enable will be available.) The options are Enabled and Disabled.​

SATA AHCI Enable​

Select Enabled to use the Serial ATA Advanced Host Interfacing. This feature is
available when the Windows XP OS, the SPI BIOS Chip, and the IAA Driver are
installed in the system. (Take caution when using this function. This feature is for​

advanced programmers only. The options are Enabled and Disabled.)

Try Native Mode: SATA, RAID Enable: Disabled, AHCI Enable: Enabled
