Hi all. After nice few hours of searching by myself I'm giving up and asking you for help ; )
Since it's the biggest Win 7 forum I hope some1 will be able to help me out.

I recently bought an Aiptek HyperPen 6000 tablet. I plugged the cables in, restarted and after windows booted up it popped up a window about installing drivers. It started with drivers for "tablet 6x4.5", but at finish it suddenly changes to "serial port mouse" (not sure if thats the English name... It sure has serial in it ; )). The tablet "works" as in it does move the cursor... but not the way it is supposed to. Without any pressure nothing happens, but with some pressure, when I move the pen, the cursor jump all over the screen and left/right click all the time like crazy. I downloaded the drivers from Aiptek site but after installing it's like they're not there at all. Just the folder it installed itself, but no apps from that folder would work except tblmouse.exe which... doesn't do anything.

I've sent this issue to Aiptek as well, but seeing the still have the copyrights at 2010 I feel that they don't update their site often... and probably don't check their e-mails neither...

If you need any more info, please ask away, Ill try to provide as much as I can.

Thanks in advance ; )

PS. If the topic is in wrong place, please do replace it, thank you - to moderator ^ ^

Hi pokora, Welcome to the forums, you will get better results if you get a serial to usb connector ,download the usb drivers from Aiptek and install them in compatibility mode for XP www.aiptek.eu - Download Section these are for the Hyperpen 6000u but with the serial to usb connector will work on the 6000 ,good luck with getting every feature to work correctly as this tablet is a legacy model :(

Thought about it as well, but I wasn't sure as with this model it has 2 plugs, serial port and ps/2... If I put the serial through usb, will I have to put ps/2 in at all ? If so, through usb adapter as well, or the same ps/2 ? ^ ^

Thanks for the info anyway : )
If the pressure levels will work, then it'll be enough for me ; )

Mhm... worth a try. Btw... this seems a stupid question... Shouldn't it be rather an usb-to-serial connector instead of serial-to-usb ?
I was looking at this one: USB 2.0 TO RS232 SERIAL DB9 9 PIN ADAPTER CABLE GPS PDA
I'd need a male serial and male usb... right? ^ ^ This seems to be the right one... correct me if I'm wrong ; )

I'm not 100% certain on that , but in my opinion you are going from serial to usb not usb to serial

Hi pokora, Did you go to the download link I posted and downloaded the drivers ? The website now states XP/Vista/Win7 compatibility may be worth a try :)

Hi pokora, It looks like your version of Windows isn't supported by Aiptek. You're running Windows 7 x64-bit, the drivers Aiptek have are only for 32-bit version of Windows 7 - http://www.aiptek.com/drivers.htm (near bottom of page)

The tablet works fine on XP... now I'm looking for a correct CABLE driver. Since the ones I tried don't even recognize there's a tablet connected to them. First things first. If the cable works out, I might be able to work out the tablet as well... The cable seems to be HL-340 (device id: USB\VID_1A86&PID_7523&REV_0254) but the HL-340 drivers craze up on Windows 7 (They work fine on XP) ... so I'm looking for sthing to make the cable recognize the tablet and not start switching on-off like CH340SER (the name of the driver ; ))

Any help appreciated... rly xD

Did you not get a driver CD with the cable?
I have had a look in the internet but cannot find any drivers for this cable for Windows 7 x64.
The drivers from here as suggested by pebbly www.aiptek.eu - Download Section should work with 7 x64 as I had one of the Aiptek tablets running on 7 x64 even if it was for a very short while.

Did you have a serial or usb tablet? I still can't get it to work. The cable did come with a driver... Windows XP one >.> Any x64 driver should work from my experience... Either way, I'd like to hear how did you get yours to work ; )

My device was USB and I had no problem getting it to work, your problem is just the driver for the cable and unfortunately I have no answer as I have found no evidence of a x64 driver :(

Have you thought about switching to x32bit windows 7

I'd faster install my old xp on a separate partition ... What good would do me 32 bit sys with 64 bit processing power... ; )
Well... thanks for trying anyway..

lol ok but I doubt with yout system that you would notice much difference in operation http://www.sevenforums.com/general-discussion/86886-32-bit-vs-64-bit-comparison.html
Also providing you have a windows DVD the change is relatively easy as you can still use the same activation key and make your own 32 bit copy from the 64 bit DVD http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/85813-windows-7-universal-installation-disc-create.html?filter[2]=General%20Tips

Whatever you do I wish you well :D

Hmm... You know... I feel really stupid now ^ ^
Thanks for the comparison link... With my hardware it would seem it'd be even better to run 32bit ... ? With only 2gb ram, the processing power isn't getting much bigger on x64 from what I understood.

Is there anyway to change to 32bit without formating my system drive?

Thanks for the great help ^ ^

No that would be the one snag, you have to do a new install :(

Heh... reinstalled system. Got 32bit ver, installed all the drivers and... finally got the tablet to work.
Too bad tho, I can't get HyperPen manager to work at all so, well, no pressure for me or anything at all. Ill be trying VirtualBox now... maybe that'll bring some luck ^ ^

The one on Virtual Box seems to work, but only on Serial Port this time, not USB... funny thing, now my Windows 7 does recognize there is a serial tablet connected... but it doesn't give any response at all. It's not moving with tablet drivers... but it's acting the same with serial mouse drivers... this is all to weird. Thanks for all the great help and tutoring and all... ^ ^
