Alienware m11x power issue

Hey all,

I have a 1st gen Alienware m11x (r1) I'm using for college

One day i woke up and my ac replacement charger was dead. I plugged in a spare one which works, but every time i plug in the laptop, i hear a pop sound with a electronic burn smell, but it still works after several seconds of no power from the AC brick.

so i'm stuck on what to do... should i buy an oem power supply?

I bought it from amazon a few months back,but when i click on what I bought, the page no longer exists.

Here's all I can give

That's my order I did.

Looks like the same as my first link = same warranty
I thought it odd it said only 500 charges over lifetime of the battery though lol
Which I would try and get a phone number or email from the seller to use the warranty on it
You might look into a docking station :/

What is a docking station?

Also, is it the battery that's causing my issue?

Not sure if it's the battery but if the thing has a burning smell it sounds to me it is likely bad
Docking station I've never actually used one but hooks up to the rear connections to or like the battery does for more connections for display and other stuff on laptops
It has it's own power source.
I googled a bit but didn't see anything worth posting as far as from amazon...

What not get the exact Dell replacement? May cost more but in the end may be worth it.

Something is really bad. If you continue you may burn the spare charger or even worst, the main mother board as the battery charging controller is on it.
If you suspect it is the battery, remove it and see if you still hear a pop sound with a electronic burn smell.

I have removed the battery and the electronic smell and pop sound remains. I have ordered the Dell OEM charger on Amazon. I will get back to you all in a few days to update you. Fingers crossed!

Had to cancel the item for now... will try to get it soon.

The electronic smell I smell in the charger port and tip of the charger. Sadly I'm not sure what it comes from completely.

I never had this issue until my last charger broke on me...

Well I got it in the mail, laptop still sparked, so I sent the charger back to Amazon.

I don't know what else to do...

So should I sell the laptop as

"for parts or repair" on ebay?

I have no idea how much a shop will charge to fix this issue. I imagine it's my charging port that's acting up...
