All W 7 updates will only install from MS

Hi all. I have a dell E5500 laptop, Windows 7. New. All windows updates fail. I must always download and install from MS download site. Anyone else have this problem, or know a solution? Brand new nice laptop, but this is annoying.

Computer is set to download all updates daily...and it does. However none will install no matter what i do. I tried installing seperately, rebooting, but it always fails. I then have to go to MS site again to re-download and install. Then all is fine. Each one of the failure codes I look up online, someone says they fixed i by downloading from MS site??

if point 1 and 2 don't help reinstall WU agent How to obtain the latest version of the Windows Update Agent to help manage updates on a computer

I's set the option to lrt Me CHOOSE.

wHY WOULD YOU WANT ALL THOSE FILES ON YOUR SYSTEM,. IF YOU DON'T PLAN ON UPGRADING EVERY ONE.

Thanks guys! I took each suggestion. I reset and also changed update options so I choose what installs. We'll see how it works when next updates arrive.
