ALT+TAB issue still unresolved : windows 7

hi there, i researched and tested many methods (including 3rd party utilities) on the net on how to fix this, but haven't found the exact solution.

basically, i have 2 programs running, and when i ALT+TAB while on Program 1, it switches to Program 2, BUT NOT BEFORE i see a momentary flash of my desktop image in between. i have another pc which runs on win 10 and this does not occur.

i have disabled aero peek, both at taskbar>properties & system>advanced settings>performance (and also desktop composition). i did not note any major difference, except i switch a bit faster. i still see the desktop.

i also don't care about any preview panel or anything like that, so switching back to the old xp ALT+TAB does nothing for me. all i want is ALT + TAB to switch directly from Program 1 to Program 2, circumventing the image of the desktop in between, or any preview tabs. i will never switch between more than 2 programs for the purpose of this exercise so cycling between 3 or more programs is moot.

ALT+ESC doesn't always work for me; it has to be ALT+TAB.

if there is no official way, i am willing to hack part of windows/registry, if anyone could relay reasonably logical steps for me to follow.

any ideas greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

ps. i haven't tested this software called DisplayFusion, it appears too complicated for me to understand at first glance. Do you think it would help what i am trying to achieve? Turning off the Desktop using NirCMD does not work either, i still see a flash of the desktop.

Did you try a Clean Startup yet? Any other program running at the background may be interfering.

no i don't think that's the issue. i'm beginning to think it has something to do with the actual programs i'm trying to switch between. if i watch closely, while it transitions between program1-desktop-program2, something flashes on the top left corner of the desktop screen, like a black bar 200 pixels by 20 pixels wide.

i see this same black bar instead of a 3d preview pane when i WIN+TAB on aero. i can see win explorer/ie panes, the desktop pane, but no preview pane of this particular program screen comes up, just that black bar. it's like it fails to thumbnail or something.
