AMD Dual Core Processor Driver?

I just bought a:
AMD Athlon X2 2.2 GHz 4200+ Socket 939 89W Dual-Core Processor

and I have spent many hours trying to get 7 to detect that there is two cores in this thing and that it needs to utilize them both. But I'm not really sure if there is a driver out there that I can use... The setup I found would say its not compatible with this OS when I ran it.
Is anyone else having issues with 7 detecting their AMD dual core processors correctly?
Are there some compatible drivers that I've missed?

Did you check the BIOS to see if both cores are enabled?

The BIOS greys out the information about my processor, and doesn't give me the ability to change anything about it.
It just says the same things windows does with its generic K8 driver
Hammer family model processor - model unknown
core clock 2200mhz
etc.

I was referring to more advanced sections of the BIOS - usually, with a BIOS that has any sort of OCing ability at all, there is a section *somewhere* that allows you to disable particular cores on your CPU.

Before I go further, though, I should ask - is the CPU you bought being used on the same motherboard as you were previously using or is this a completely new rig?

Well I just looked through the mobo manual (A8N SLI Deluxe) and I didn't really see anything.
The new cpu was an upgrade on my same rig.

Reset your BIOS - it might still be trying to use settings that were specific to your previous CPU....

Of course, if you have any specialized settings in there, make a note of them so you can change them back after the reset.

Also, check to see if there is a BIOS update for your motherboard ***that you need*** 0 as in it is made to work with Vista, or else it is made to work with your CPU family, etc.

I also have an A8N SLI Deluxe mobo. Looks like same AMD dual core also. Amazing first person I run into that has same rig. Anyway, not having any problems with drivers.
Running 7.0.22 x 86. Auto installs both drivers without a hicup.

I'm still on 7000... Could that be it?

I tried clearing the CMOS, but that didn't solve the issue.
And I dont even have a floppy to flash the bios with anyway so that option is kind of out...
So why does his work and mine doesn't...?

omg... windows 7 is much newer than your old cpu! Could you imagine that windows knows all about it and has build in everything that is needed? If you have problems with your cpu, update your bios.
