AMD Fx quad core prosessor after bios update

Link them back to this thread so they can see that there is 3 revisions of that board, and the one they sold you isn't the one that supports the FX CPU's.

Hi there, I am having pretty much the exact same problem so I am glad to see that someone else is having the same problem (well not glad but you know what I mean:p).

I also bought on eBay and your setup seems very similar to mine, who did you buy from?

My spec is:

Gigabyte 78LMT-S2P AM3+ (Rev 5001)

AMD FX-4170 AM3+ 4.2GHz 12MB

ATI Radeon 6670 HD 800MHz 2GB PCI-Express HDMI

Kingston 8gb(2x4gb) heat shielded 1600mhz RAM

CPU Clock speed checked with CPU-Z and Wizard Soft an both are showing 2.81

Any suggestions or do I need to complain to the seller and get him to switch out the components, if so which ones? Please help!

Edit: Updated the bios, CPU voltage is now constantly changing between 0.93, 1.10 and 0.23
Clock speed is also changing back and forth from 2.81(14x multi) down to 1.4 (7x multi)

I have wasted my whole evening trying to fix this and I am in despair and worried that my new PC that I saved up for a year for is now frying :/

I do believe some BIOS options like "Cool and Quiet" will let the processor down clock when its idle to reduce heat and save power. I think there is a utility you install that goes with it. If you have that option turn it off and see if you get your full clock speed back.
