Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum so bear with me. Okay, so, I have a HP Pavilion dm1 notebook which uses an AMD E-450 APU (CPU/GPU mix) and since upgrading my Mobility graphics driver from the native factory settings version to the latest 14.4 version I began to get a screen freeze which would then go blank. After a moment my desktop would reappear with the notice from the system tray saying that my driver had failed and recovered. This happened a few times before failing completely. The laptop remains on, my screen however is blank.
To make myself more clear I should explain my setup. My laptop has a broken screen so I have it hooked up to an external Packard Bell monitor, use a separate keyboard and mouse and when the PB monitor goes blank I can tell the laptop is still on because the broken laptop screen is still lit up...however like I say the PB monitor loses signal completely eventually forcing me to do a hard reset.
Anyway, the previous paragraph is sort of a separate issue. I then went and rolled back my driver and the same problem occurred. I uninstalled the driver completely and tried a few old drivers...still the same thing. So, I am now stuck. The driver failure is intermittent and can sometimes go for hours with no worries, or it can happen during boot up. I am at a total loss. Any ideas?
