I found an older thread here with the exact same problem on your forums but a solution had not been found then.

I was playing a video game when my laptop crashed. I restarted it and got BSOD. On other attempts I would get to the Windows loading screen but it would then result in a blank black screen. I reinstalled Windows 7 Home Premium x64 and as soon as I install drivers for 7970M the laptop crashes (BSOD/black screen).

I tried installing the driver version that came with the laptop when I originally purchased it and I also tried latest versions from AMD's website. The laptop crashes when installing any of those versions.

Wondering if anyone knows the cause for this and possibly a solution.

Hello,

Art5, I just wanted to respond to this post to say that I have been dealing with pretty much exactly the issue you describe.

My computer also froze while playing a game (NBA 2K15) and thereafter I dealt with the same issues that you did. Still haven't found a solution.

I also have a Radeon HD7970m.
