AMD Ryzen CPU. No Longer Able To Update Windows

After I installed a AMD Ryzen CPU in my computer (still using the Windows 7 installation from previous CPU build). Windows updated fine until one day it said my hardware wasn't compatible and no longer checks for updates or installs them.

I can't even installed a stand-alone Windows Update downloaded from the internet that my Elgato Video Capture software requests every time I open the program.

Is there anyway I can get updates to install etc?

Are you getting the following message when you try to update?. Post back if you do.

"Windows update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running, You may need to restart your computer".

I believe Ryzen does not support Windows 7 and Microsoft blocks updates for it like it does with Kaby Lake processors. There's an unofficial patch by zeffy that has worked it the past by disabling Microsoft's detection of these CPUs, but I'm not sure if it still works. It's on github if you decide to look for it.
