annoying Microsoft pop-ups

Hello again Folks.
I've tried searching for an existing thread but I'm not getting the question/search-term right; try this:
Using IE11 as my browser, I keep getting very annoying pop-ups from the MS software asking various questions: for example, when I click on the site's full-screen setting there is a narrow window pops up asking if I wish to view full-screen.
There are others, such as: pop-ups are disabled do I wish to enable them etc etc etc.
Does anyone know how to stop these messages from appearing? Cheers, Keith.

Hello Keith I am not entirely sure of what it is you are experiencing but I have given up on IE Edge Chrome etc even using Ad Blocker plus because of the annoying pop ups and ads.

If you want to try something I now have on all of my machines try this https://cyberfox.8pecxstudios.com/ it will carry over your favourites etc and is based on Firefox but is in my mind better. You can alwasy uninstall it if you are unhappy with it after all is said and done. There is another called Waterfox again loosely based on FF but I tried it but the Cyberfox is the better of the two and unless the other browsers get their act together and make something useful i am staying with CF.

Oh if you do try it them make sure you pick the version for the CPU/motherboard you have as it comes in Intel x64 Intel x86 AMD x64 and AMD x86 it really is only cosmetic as far asI know but have a look no harm in that eh?

Well Jeannie I don't know if you have ever tried it but I find it easier and faster no other reason, it was just a suggestion for Keith.

Keith mate I always used to check out the options like always allow because if it was site I used a lot that is what I would do - if that is what you want do that and yes I know it is annoying and I cannot see the point of the pop up to be honest.

Can I assume then that there is no way to stop these pop-ups; it wouldn't surprise me knowing how stupid MS can be at times. As you say, what is the point?

Probably not Keith and like I said I went over to another browser because all the main ones were irritating the living heck out of me one way or a another.

To be honest I am working off a 10 machine out of necessity but prefer 7 but either way it seems to me at least that Microsoft are after taking control of your computer if you use one of their browsers and Google are up there with them for doing this sort of stuff. Now while I agree that some of the control and that pop up in IE's instance is probably there to safeguard you from accessing a site for example by accident I think that unless one is exceedingly careless I for one don't need that annoying "baby sitting"

I saw the comment re FF and it is ok in my mind but sluggish and it is just be chance a good friend of mine stumbled across CF and WF we have both been using it now for two months and have yet to fault it. My only criticism is that it is laggy in Windows 10 in starting up from the taskbar in 7 it is fine.

I might add that I have no interests in any way of promoting CF or any other particular piece of software for that matter it was just a suggestion for you to try and as I said you can always uninstall it and go back to IE or whatever you prefer should you not like it. It cost nothing to try Cyberfox or Waterfox or Firefox but I will say that until it proves to be a dead loss I am staying with CF.

John, I hope you didn't misunderstand me when I asked what made Cyberfox better than Firefox. I did not intend to put you or the program down. Since the Cyberfox website doesn't tell me much about it, I was hoping you could; basically, what is it about Cyberfox you like better than Firefox? You mentioned faster and easier. Easier in what way? Anything else?

At least I didn't suggest it was because the name didn't start with an "F", like Firefox and one of those words my Mama "told" me not to use.

Hmm well Jeannie perhaps it was just me but on my machine s I just found Firefox a bit lethargic and I tried Cyberfox because my friend said how good she found it.

I was using Edge at the time because of Chrome was playing up but when I went to Edge (I am using my 10 laptop right now for most stuff but seriously thinking of putting 7 back on) and it was just getting on my nerves also in how it was going or not.
Now I have Cyberfox I get straight to the point no ads pop ups and just generally find it more user friendly.

Now apparently they are still working on it and unless they wreck it then I am staying with it. So really I suppose it is a matter of personal choice if you find Firefox ok then all well and good it was as I said just a suggestion for the OP.

The thing is this: I really don't want to change my browser because of a few pop-ups that are just a bit irritating, because that would cause me even more irritation. I had simply hoped that MS had put in the ability to get rid of them the way they do with the '...just blocked a pop-up' banner that comes in the same place and is equally stupid.
But I don't want to start giving sites the initiative to open full-screen, that would also be stupid; I just don't want to have to keep closing a banner every time I jump to full screen. Why do they feel the need to spoon-feed and nanny their customers? If we are still using 7 it is because we don't need taking by the hand every step of the way. Leave that to 10 users. No offence intended, of course, I understand 10 has much to recommend it.

Well it you don't mind putting up with the pop ups my friend then keep the IE al I am saying is that it costs nothing to try something else like CF and your IE sites can be carried over if yous so wish.

It would take you a very short period of time to do that but the choice is yours as always I am just saying my experiences with the other browsers has been good and bad but the more they develop them it seem s to me the harder they are to use.

For the record, I don't find Firefox OK (it's cookie handling sucks). That's why I was asking about Cyberfox.

Ok Jeannie well I cannot answer it because I haven't been using it for tat long so cannot really say I just find it is a bit of fresh air over those other lumbering browsers.

Having said that in 10 it does have a it of a lag starting up but that could be my machines the 7's are ok.
