Anti spyware/maleware/virus boot disk?

A few months back when I was reading these forums I remember one of the experts here recommending a free program to do this. Can one of you tell me the link to get this kind of a thing so I can create a boot disk to do this kind of stuff for Windows that won't run?

some av manufacturers provide free 'rescue' discs that allow you to boot and clean an infected machine.

for example, kaspersky, avg or avira.

there are probably many more, but those are the first three that sprung to mind )and i've never tried any of them).

I've never used them before but the Avira and Bitdefender are often suggested.
