Solved Antivirus keeps shutting down

Microsoft Security Essentials keeps on shutting down for some reason. I have looked online, and have already done everything, but it keeps on telling me that windows is not protected, despite updating and scanning everyday. i dont get why. do i have some malware? I have used malwarebytes, hijackthis, and MSE itself, and nothing has come up. I have even installed AVG for a short time to try to find the problem, but nothing came up either

also, I have found it impossible to turn on windows defender. would that be why MSE is acting up?

hi there before we get to the complicated stuff have you tried un-installing and re-installing the security software? and its always best to not have more than one security software installed.

have you checked in the services that windows defender is set to automatic ? (mine is disabled because i don't use it)

uh-oh. i used the wrong words in my original post. it originally made MSE tell me that it hasnt scanned for a while (orange banner and icon). i changed windows defender to auto, and when i restarted, MSE really shutdown (red banner and icon). and windows defender went back to manual, despite me having clicked both apply and ok

i think reinstalling worked. i can only wait and see

MSE includes Windows Defender, so you can disable that in "services".

it appears that way
