AntiVirus suggestions and questions

Ive been an Avid user of Norton products for the last 10+yrs howevere im very disappointed in the most recent issues i have had with them. My favorite part of NAV was identity safe (maybe not so safe) storing and typing my logins and passwords so i dont have to, ive always felt pretty secure with it but not so sure anymore.
So im looking to find another A?V program that also has this type of password manager included with it as well if there even is any others that have it.
Sorry i havent posted in quite awhile, W7U has prooved to to be a decent OS and i have not had any major issues to have to come here for anymore.

Every A-V Program has its own user interface. If you are a normal home user then you would find that the free Avast A-V would more than serve your needs.

I am not quite clear what Identity Safe Storing is and does. I too had used NAV for years but gave it up a few years back due its slowing down the computer.

From a BSOD perspective you are far better off without Norton.
In fact we recommend people use Microsoft Security Essentials & also Malwarebytes.

I am using Norton anti-virus and so far it hasn't given me any problems.Maybe my opinion is biased as i have a one year subscription with Norton.

for me , gotta be the brilliant (free) Avast -- just love it. clean, nice interface; unfussy and speedy background updates. have used it since 2004 and it gets better with every release ime.

Thanks guys, i have used MSE on many PC's ive built and sold most of them wiped and the OS reinstalled from others using AVG and some other FREE antivirus programs. My norton is paid for however its about to come due again and im going to drop them like a rock!! Thinking maybe kapernsky or MSE and some sort of an additional password manager program, thanks for the suggestions i was to lazy to do a full search lastnight when i was thinking of who to go to next,, i will do the research and figure it out b4 norton goes bye bye.
You know i posted yesterday on the NAV forums with questions about the Identity safe program and issues ive had and they deleted my post, they did not message me and say way or anything just boom deleted me!! JERKS!!

The ones I've tried, including Norton/Symantec, AVG pro, F-Prot, Comodo, MSE, and others barely match what ESET NOD32 manages to find... I'd personally go for NOD32, Avast Pro, or Kaspersky...

Purely from a BSOD perspective I would suggest you avoid Kaspersky.

I have used Norton, KIS, Zone Alarm, Micro Trend, Webroot and just got tired of arguing with the programs. All store bought full versions. My last being Webroot I bought from a store at the mull. It didn't last a month. I removed it from my pc and broke the disc in pieces. Installed MSE, MAM and SAS and haven't looked back.

I also use Identity Safe with my NIS 2012. Before Norton I used and still have Password Safe which is a good program but is a little harder to use.

Password Safe provides several mechanisms for using stored names and passwords. Most require copying the user name or password to the clipboard and then pasting the information into the required input field. Password Safe provides a function, Auto Type, that automates the entering of user name and password into a web form.

I have not used the Auto Type function since I started using Norton instead. I may have to give it a try. One neat function is it will generate passwords for you so each account can have a different password.

I know Avast has a extra feature which you can buy, its called Avast! EasyPass. Part of Avast marketplace helps with password managing.

As we can see many people use various security programs that work for them. That is the answer, what works for you is the best one.

I used to use kaspersky, but then I changed to Norton because kaspersky took up a fair amount of resources. So I'm using norton internet security 2012 and I'm fairly happy with it.

Pretty anal here every since my 8 year old Dell XP system crashed and I lost a lot of programs.

I'm running Avast Security Suite, Maleware Pro, and Super Antispyware!! :shock:

Plus I have 3 externals for backups, using Easus, Ghost, and Acronis!!
