any free software to rip music from ipod to PC

iam trying to rip music from an iPhone 3 to PC so it can be reimported into a new computer with a new iPhone 5 - I used to have a few programs years ago but cant remember the names, I spent hours trying various programs that claim to be free but are only free for X amount of transfers

anyone know of any working software?
