Any way to prevent this message?

Check your e-mail security settings to determine how attachments are handled" appears in emails with attachments that I send from Win 7. Default email client is Thunderbird, but from what I can gather, the message is Windows-generated. I found one site that mentioned editing the registry, but when I went to the supposed location in the registry there's nothing there remotely similar to the so called "tip" someone suggested. I've found no other instances of suggestions on how to eliminate that message.

How do you know it is not Thunderbird? Windows is not going to interfere and embed some message into an email. If it is not Thunderbird then my only guess will be an antivirus and most likely it is..

It's not the A/V ( I turned it off ) and from what I can gather from other discussions, it probably isn't T/B, but I wouldn't swear to it. I don't feel like installing another email client in order to find out. (I already exhausted all of the T/B options).

As soon as I right click a file in Explorer, and choose "attach", it opens the default email client (thunderbird), and the outgoing email windows (new message) shows the passage in question. Are you saying that the email server is intercepting the message between Explorer and the New Message window? I'm wondering if the issue IS Thunderbird ( I know it's not the A/V as I turned it off as a test)...

I just checked this on my own Win 7/Thunderbird system.

I got the same message. The message is also visible to the recipient.

It MAY be a Windows thing? When you attach a file in another way, it does NOT appear (choosing the attach icon when in Tbird).

I could not find a control for it in Tbird.

Yup, choosing a file and then using the context menu to send it to an email recipient.

Well that method generates a message as it is required to attach a file to. So that is where it is coming from. But there is no way to change it. This was started all the way back in Windows XP SP2

ah. I was right after all then?...that it is an OS issue, despite protestations in this thread that it isn't.

But for my defense! I thought you were referring to messages you were downloading and sending, from inside your email client.
