As some of you may know, I've been away for a couple of weeks due to what I've found to be a problem with BitDefender. I bought BitDefender Total Security 2011 from a shop having a clearance sale.

Anyway, great features and all but it seriously slowed my internet. It slowed down a lot and it was barely usable. On top of this, it blocked my home network. After uninstalling, everything went back to normal. I've since switched back to Trend Micro so my computer is safe for the moment.

So has any other BD users had similar problems? I'm just curious as it's advertised as a great AV but it didn't work very well for me and the online support and service wasn't great either.

I only experienced a slowdown when I got the 2012 version (the new one). (but it was just a bug which, hopefully, they fixed)
Didn't have problems with the 2011 version. Perhaps you misconfigured the firewall? That can really slow your browsing.

Nope. I turned the Firewall off for good measure.

Hi there "JaidynM". I'm a Bitdefender user for last 2 years now and haven't face such problem yet. Though it's latest version has some problem with Comodo Firewall. Anyway, I'd suggest you should install Bitdefender Total Security 2012, using same 2011 key - it'll work just fine. Also, try their forum http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showforum=132

Hm, yes. I might do that. 2012 is still in Beta though, isn't it? I'd rather get the final release when it comes out.

Actually, 2012 series product from BD is out for more than a week now. Checkout there home page for downloads. Good Luck.

I disabled "Auto Pilot" for "User Mode" because BD updates every 2 hours. Improved OS performance significantly.
Updating once a day is enough for my business needs.
No gold bullion stored in the modem or router.
