If you are asking if application data is replacing documents and settings. it is. Your setup looks correct

when i click application data, and application data in it, it will be an endless loop.

Why have you taken ownership of the "Documents and Settings" folder in the first place?

You do realize the folder is but a junction point to actual folders on your HD, don't you?

Was there a particular reason you did so and what did you do after having done so?

The "Application Data" folder itself is but a junction point as well.

You weren't supposed to mess up the permissions, because I'm pretty sure you did. DandS is known as "Users". The Application Data heirarchy has been replaced with "AppData". Subsequent junction points mainted integrity of program compatibility such that old programs will be pointed to the better organized folders to make sure they will run properly. The consequence of changing these permissions will be an endless loop as you are simply clicking the same junction point over and over again.

For most users, it is wise to keep the defaults of "Don't show hidden files, folders, or drives" selected as well as "Hide protected operating system files" checked.


It's a bit late for that now and the result may require a system restore (if available) or a Repair Install.

Try a system restore to a point behind the date where you changed the permissions. Worth a try!

Take it from someone who knows. I learned the hard way about permissions on system files. I literally turned my PC into a paper weight with one fatal click. Also, did you rename your Appdata folder to "Application Data"? I didn't think windows 7 used Application Data anymore.

Well i tap both ALT+F10 while booting my acer laptop,
press enter at the "edit boot options" screen
select "restore to factory defaults"
The good thing was i did'nt lose any files which i saved into my imation,
i also learnt not to messed up my settings.
The best part was i did'nt need any dvd to restore my windows7.
Thanks to everyone for your replies and advices.
