So it's TRUE that they are forcing windows 7 & 8 users.
This is ridiculous! Sorry for the anger btw but i had to bring this
to people's attention. I do not want windows 10 for several
reasons. Some being personal. Am i the only any one who finds this
disturbing also how avoid this update besides turning off automatic
updates? Personally they've tried to get me through streaming on
a download when i needed a framework but it was a pathetic attempt
and i quickly deleted the .exe.

Windows 10 is not being forced on you. If you don't want to upgrade to Windows 10, you don't have to.

When did this happen?

They did force it on people, I had my W 8.1 laptop updates set to never and then disabled in Services and I got a note in the message center to turn on my updates because there important updates to be installed. I looked at the updates and the first thing I saw were driver updates at the top of the list. I knew if I updated I would have had W 10 installed.

I read in another forum they admitted their "mistake" and said it was an error. I haven't heard anything else about it being forced since then.

It has been reported to happen but there is a misunderstanding on the available windows update settings and how they should be set to not include windows 10 stuff
I've yet to be auto upgraded and did try last week with a clean install and setting the update system to automatic for both Important and recommended updates.

The check compatibility feature of GWX icon was dysfunctional
"No report available we'll try again before upgrading to make sure your machine is able to run win-10 is the message it gave".

But switch or at least verify your windows update settings
Leave it on automatic just Uncheck Give me Recommended updates the same....

Windows 10 is not forced upon you, you the user have to interact for this to happen, never update your PC and you`ll never get Windows 10, simple as that.

Also, read what each and every update does, you should be doing that already, and you do not need every update MS throws at you.

Sorry, but the user interacted and downloaded an update, it does not upgrade to Windows 10 all by itself.

It is impossible for it to do that.

If that were the case then explain to me why I still have Windows 7 ????

You`re reading an article from people who don`t have a clue, and got their data from users that don`t have a clue.

Microsoft allowing the free upgrade to windows 10 is the stupidest thing ever done in the history of man kind ( and that includes the Hindenburg incident ) it has caused nothing but problems for every loyal windows 7 user.

Windows 10 is fine, but it should have never been done this way, it should have been sold just like every other Windows OS, period.

The problem is coming from users not paying attention and installing the upgrade to Windows 10 update by mistake since it's selected by default.

You can't claim users not paying attention as Microsoft forcing you to upgrade. That's just a bunch of media hype trying to get headlines, views, and ratings.

...and you have the option to not install in Windows Update, or just to disable it.

If one did upgrade to Windows 10 by mistake, they can use the go back to previous Windows feature in Windows 10 to undo it.
