Associate file type by file path

Hello!

I work with film editing and need to have several media players. I wonder if it is possible to associate file type to different programs, depending on the file path. I.e. every file in path E:\ is opened in program1 by default, and program2 takes care of the rest of the paths. Today I use right click and "open with", which gets kind of annoying.

Thank you! :)

I think the ideal option would be to add many options to the context menu, so it becomes simply right click => Open with Player1, or right click => Open with Player2, and so on, with maybe one of them being the default for the standard double-click. Simply a little registry tweaking gives this result.

Associating a file with a path makes no sense at all. Windows associations are entirely based on file extension, which in turn is (by convention) related to file content, which is what really defines what programs can handle. The very same file on different folders is able to be opened with the very same programs.
But an option to do so could be to associate the extension with a bat file that determines what to run based on the path.
