ASUS K53E Laptop BSOD on Hibernate

Hello,

I purchased my laptop about 3 weeks ago and have been using it to stream online classes I'm taking. I'm using an ASUS K53E notebook which was purchased at a local Best Buy. It is running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and I have Kaspersky PURE installed on my computer.

For the first 2-2.5 weeks of usage, the laptop has been as smooth as can be. However, as of last Friday (9/2), I noticed that the laptop would crash every time I shut it. The screen would go black, like it's going to hibernate, but the hard disk would never shut down (green lights on the front of the laptop stayed on) and I would either have to manually power down the laptop or wait for it to get BSOD and then shut itself down. I have since stopped hibernating it and shutting it down completely each night, but it's getting extremely frustrating and worrisome that at some point, the laptop will become completely useless.

I've looked through the forums already and seen that others have been having this problem. If this has been resolved, can I ask what others have done to get rid of the BSOD?

I'm sorry I have not attached my BSOD crash report, as I have not copied it yet nor do I really want to cause another BSOD just for the report. I understand that if I have to, I will in order to give you all better insight to the problem, but if this is a known issue, then maybe someone already has a solution?

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.


To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
OK your way out.
Reboot if changes have been made.

I'm having almost the same problem with the same laptop. Except that in my case the laptop BSODs upon restoring, not upon hibernating.

Prior to this, I had the same symptom of not properly hibernating when lid was closed. I investigated a bit, and came to the conclusion that it was because of an ASUS utility called Power4Gear that was putting the computer in slow speed upon closing the lid, and that was why it was not hibernating properly (it could take up to 15 minutes to hibernate!). I removed power4gear and now it hibernates fine, but it frequently BSODs when trying to restore from hibernation.

I have the feeling that it BSODs when it was hibernated on batteries and is restoring with AC plugged in (or vice versa).
