hi im not sureif this is in the right forum but here goes,
i have an asus K53e windows 7 home 64 and every time it restarts from a hibernation it crashes/freezes and will have to power down and start up again, this really starting to be annoying and would like some help please

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP



You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

yeah will do thanks for replying but i have a some what limited knowledge with computers tho i have enabled the dump files i just dont know how i would find them after, sorry

hi if done all that and found the dump folder but for some reason the folder is still empty, an my laptop has crashed/frozen up at least 3 times where i have had to reset it manualy, a side not too that my laptop is increasingly getting slower on the start up with error id's of 100 to 300 an not sure if this has got some thing to to with it crashing from a sleep,
just an idea

Please provide us with your Event Viewer administrative logs by following these steps:


Click Start Menu
Type eventvwr into Search programs and files (do not hit enter)
Right click eventvwr.exe and click Run as administrator
Expand Custom Views
Click Administrative Events
Right click Administrative Events
Save all Events in Custom View As...
Save them in a folder where you will remember which folder and save as Errors.evtx
Go to where you saved Errors.evtx
Right click Errors.evtx -> send to -> compressed (zipped) folder
Upload the .zip file here.

Okay yulaw99, you have quite the event log here. Sorry it took so long to get back to you. Let's start with a few things, I am going to be going over the event logs and will post fixes for different problems that you are having. Let's take care of something simple real quick. What antivirus are you using? Most of us here highly recommend Miscrosoft Security Essentials. It's free, has a small foot print and works great. If you are using anything else, please uninstall it, at least for testing purposes. Also, please download Malwarebytes, the free version, and run a full scan on all user accounts and let us know how that comes out. Again, there is a lot to look over here and I will be getting back to you about it. I will also have someone look at the .dmp you attached. Please be patient.

After going through the Event Viewer, I have found you have a lot of DCOMM errors. Do you remember when this problem first started? If so can you either use an Image you have created, or use System Restore to restore the system to a time when it was working properly? Also, you need to run sfc/ scannnow.

You also have a lot of Disk errors. This could be a result of out of date drivers BIOS or a DISC that is going bad. There are a lot of updates for your Laptop, including BIOS, Firmware, hotfixes, chipset drivers, etc. Please update your BIOS and all drivers here. Also, please run Disk Check.

hi currently i have had Norton 360 as my anti-virus but as you suggested i the previous post i removed it an added the mentioned programs,tho after the malware program scanned and removed malware problems it wanted to restart my laptop but had a shitfit and had several issues with coming back on but its startedup again still slow as ever, is norton 360 not as good as the bill it to be then? as the malware program had 101 issues that my norton has never flagged?

Wow, would you mind uploading the logs? Did you run Malwarebytes full scan on all User Accounts?
Also, did you use the Norton 360 uninstaller?
Did you install and run Microsoft Security Essentials?
After you confirm those items, there is more that you can do.

hi yes norton is uninstalled and yes both the programs you said are now on an have had full scans, running the sfc/scannow at moment already done the disk scan checkon boot up,haveing a few problems with the bios an driver download tho, as i download un unzip them im left with a file that i cant open or install i am unsure what i need to do when i unzip or am i downloading the wrong thing? oh an here the log from malware

Okay, run sfc/ scannow 3 times. After you do that, run disk check. Then we'll see about the updates etc.

yeah half way through the second scan now, wil do it again and the boot diack scan too i think i might of found the program to install the driver, it a winflash program inmy start up tray and when i open it it says about updatind bios an for the download files, so im guessin this is what i needed? will wait for all the scans first tho

You may also want to run malwarebytes again. In a perfect world, it would remove all malware on the first run, but sometimes malware is more malicious and makes itself difficult to remove.

And how is the stability now? Go ahead with your updates if you feel the system is stable now. Do not attempt the BIOS update if you think you will crash.
