Hi there,

Just got this soundcard for my desktop but not installed yet. I am installing it on a Win7 RC (x64) machine. Which driver should I use? Link please...

Anyone tried all the apps that comes with it? Do they all work on the x64 or should I just skipém for now?

Thanks

Thanks will give them a try. July 2008? Should be a more recent release or? Anyone know if they have beta drivers for Win7?

Special drivers for Win7 are NOT needed. Let's not forget that seven was designed for more compatibility and speed, so your regular drivers that came on the CD or you found on the official website should work. Right now I don't see any drivers especially for seven on that soundcard. First try out the ones listed above and then I'll check if any new ones are gonna be coming out.

I've got the D2X (very similar) and the latest Beta drivers work fine (better than the stable drivers)

Just a note on Win7 build 7225. The most recent Xonar drivers for my DX seem to be broken in this release, while they worked fine on earlier builds. After installing the drivers and rebooting, Explorer windows would hang and require restarting the service. Removing the Xonar drivers cleared it up.

I'm hoping it's just a quirk with that particular Win7 build since we'll most likely be waiting a while for Asus to update their driver sets.

You don't need to remove drivers. It's the applications fault (soundmixer). Do a manual upgrade within "Device manager" and it will work just fine. Do not run the install. I also have an D2X and 7201 x64.

Ok so I am on 7100 and used 8.17 for Vista x64. Appear to work fine. No errors installing and sound is PHENOMENAL! Sure there are quirks with the drivers but my music library just got updated... ;)

I used this driver: Version 6.12.8.1764 for Vista x64

Warning: since build 7127 x64 (I don't know if the same problem happens with x32 version) the latest asus xonar d2 vista 64 (Version 6.12.8.1764) completely breaks windows seven !
It installs fine, then reboots, the operating system seems to boot fine but once on the desktop you can't launch any application.

Solution: use msconfig in safe mode and prevent "HsMgr.exe" & "HsMgr64.exe" from starting with windows. You'll lose the EAX emulation in games.
Another solution (the one that I choose) is to reboot in safe mode, uninstall the driver, reboot again and install it "manually" (by the device manager/update driver/browse to the .inf ).
The driver is here:
f26781be2b4afbc393c9bb657a2f9.jpg

Asus audio center won't load anymore, but the driver seems to work fine (you can still access/manage your audio levels/inputs/outputs by right clicking the volume icon on the taskbar).
There's a topic about it on asus's audio forum.
