At the end of my wit with windows live messenger.. Constant problem!

Ahh nvm i got a hold of my SID now i had 2 profiles so i went ahead and removed traces of all windows live and MSN products.

I use windows firewall and all rules and entries of all Windows live products have been erased, however i'm not quite sure i understand the PerPassPortSettings search to find my SID , i know that each sid is unique to each account on every machine but that's about it really. I went into the registry editor to the correct location to find my SID but i couldn't find it

RE: The search - I just meant to open up regedit and use the FIND option to locate the PerPassPortSettings key. Sorry I should have been clearer.

If you decide to delete all registry settings, note that you should again remove the files that I mentioned earlier before you reinstall. Good Luck.

Did you run the batch file elevated. i.e. Right click on it and select RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR?

I still don't know if you ran the batch as an elevated admin. However if you've deleted all windows live registry settings (as you said) then you have to re-install it mate and I would expect the batch to fail if some of the registry entries are removed. The batch was just to run after the PerPassPortSettings key was removed and the batch needs to run as admin.

By the way, nice desktop.

Also, I'm off now (it's 1am here). If you've already run the batch as admin then re-install windows live and reboot. If it's still broken then run the batch again, if it's still broken then I'm convinced it's a 3rd party program and I'll help you look at whatever you have running. Look at anything that could access the live features such as browsers, Rdock, etc.

And let me know if you're successful in starting and using live messenger from live mail.

Windows live mail has been working fine I have my account on it now and have had without any errors it does seem to only be messenger as the other products work great. Thankyou very much mate for taking time into this

see i'm signed into windows live but when i sign into messenger there it goes back to the UXcore.dll error

btw i did have messenger plus installed, but i deleted that including registries and all known traces of it. It never has been a conflicting problem with Messenger, I just can't for the life of me pin point when it stopped working because from time to time it goes unused for a few days. But i first noticed this on 21st of June and alls i had done since then is changed my icons that show on the taskbar (i changed those back just incase but obviously it wasn't that causing it).

Also you've noticed that i have custom taskbar etc. so i obviously have modded some .DLL's in system32 even though i can't remember there correct names at the top of my head i have tried reverting to all the default ones and then rebooting (as i keep originals as backups), but i never got any changes from the error.

Back to the plan B, we need to see what other programs you are running at start up. Please post up screen prints of your MSCONFIG and a list of currently running processes. Shoot me this privately if you prefer.

There's a problem recorded with Lifecam (webcam) software per here but it could be anything that hooks the messenger drivers. So especially look at webcams, video card, email, other messenger software and upgrade the drivers on all hardware from the manufacturers website (not MS update).

Another option might be to perform a clean install via a clean start up; but my gut feel is that this won't work for your scenario as we've pretty much reinstalled everything. Still keep it in mind. It's also occured to me that there is another cache of messenger related data that we could clear between install attempts (so add this to our current list and i'll add it to my batch file) %AppData%\Microsoft\MSN Messenger. This is the Microsoft Cache if we delete the entire folder it should rebuild (back it up first anyway). Keep this in mind if you attempt another purge and install.

Lastly and more of a double check - you are installing the latest version yeah?

This guy reckons that the problem has to do with the MSI service being accessed. He says to install the reg patch and start the service. At the risk of breaking your installation service, give it a go.

There they are mate, I should tell you just incase that i have tried disabling all of this through MSconfig other than Microsoft processes and still got the problem. So maybe it is to do with a microsoft product or file?

then reboot and start messenger manually.

What we're not checking here is any registry autorun's or programs that start with their own services.

Also start up your COM+ System Application service. i've com accross more than one program that play's-up when it's not running.
