Hi people.

I've just installed windows 7 RTM, 32-bit on my Asus, with an ATI Radeon HD 3470 graphics card.
The driver for it is installed and working I think, but I can't seem to get the Catalyst Control Center to work..

I've installed the ATI Catalyst™ 9.7 Suite for Windows 7 (32-bit) from here Drivers & Tools | GAME.AMD.COM Everything seems to go well with the installation, it even says, installation completed, but the catalyst center isn't anywhere to be found.
When I go to the folder ..programfiles/ati technologies the folder is just empty. In programs & features ATI install manager is installed.

Can anybody tell me what's wrong? I cant get the CCC to appear at all.. Thanks, Arthur

It is possible that you downloaded the Drivers Only package and not the Catalyst Suite.

Yeah, that's the first thing I checked. I definitely downloaded the ATI Catalyst 9.7 Suite, Which says that it includes the drivers and the CCC. Upon opening the pack I'm given the option to install 'ATI Catalyst Driver' and 'folding@home'-(not sure what that is)

Try installing again (folding@home is a microbiology experiment using excess bandwidth to form a network of home computers).

When your installation is finished check the install log to see what it says.

I've already tried installing and uninstalling multiple times to no avail... Although the installer package doesn't mention anything about the CCC... Not sure if its worth mentioning but when I did the upgrade to Win7, The windows installer told me "

  • These programs might not work properly after the upgrade. We recommend uninstalling these programs before upgrading. Cancel the upgrade, open Control Panel, and search for "uninstall a program". (Note: Programs marked as * can be safely reinstalled after the upgrade.)

    • [*] ATI CATALYST Install Manager *

[*] ATI Catalyst Control Center *"

Though at the time I didn't think it would matter to much if I didn't uninstall them.. Anyway, I've been looking round the net and alot of people seem to have a similar issue.

7Emeralds, you upgraded rather than clean install? Am wondering if that may be the source of your problem. I have installed the 9.7 drivers and control centre on 3 machines in the last few days, had no problems at all, but all were clean installs.

Yes you are possibly right.. I had the same thoughts myself. I did an upgrade rather than clean install as I found it a little difficult installing some of my things directly on windows 7. Considering how long its taking to sort the ATI stuff out it might be preferable to actually try a clean install. As a matter of fact I had previously tried doing this and found the ATI stuff to all be working fine and accounted for.. However if someone does have a different solution that would save me a day of reinstalling windows and all my programs etc..

windows 7 is pretty ok but this is some wack s**t

Well I finally made some progress. Just did a fresh install and ran the original ati drivers that came with my laptop and it worked perfectly. I now have the control center again. I know this wont help other people with the same problem unfortunately though.. Thanks for your input anyway guys. Will stick around this forum ;)

I had somehow tricked my computer into getting rid of this 1 inch ring around the external mointor (24 inch dell)... however I reinstalled the most updated driver to try and get that Catalyst Control Center, and now I am screwed and can't get rid of it.

HELP!

edit* Still can't get the Catalyst Control Center to appear anywhere on my computer.

I have ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 and am running driver version 8.632.1.2000 with a driver date of 8/17/2009

Update: A fix...

In screen resolution - making my 1st display 1176 x 1000 and my 2nd 1900x1200 filled up the 2nd screen and got rid of the black ring around the monitor. I saved this setting. Then went and changed the 1st monitor back to 1900 x 1200 and it was all good... full res on both monitors.

I am having the same problem - that is, the catalyst control center (ccc) does not appear although the installation log says it was installed successfully. I have a Dell 2407 24" monitor but do not have the black border issue. Installing the ccc 9.12 was a bit of an experiment as I have by ATI/AMD's standards an old legacy unsupported card (the ATI AIM 2006). Thank goodness Microsoft made a driver for it otherwise I would be SOL. I have always had ATI video cards and have several times vowed never again because of all the driver problems, but I like integrated TV tuners and nVidia doesn't make them but I keep getting fooled - I thought the catalyst drivers solved ATI's driver problems and I guess it does as long as just like Creative you buy and have their latest top of the line product. /rant OFF

Same problem here, it says it needs a restart after installing CCC and after the restart nothing has changed. no sign of CCC anywhere in my programs and when I run the setup it just installs it again.

OK, help me out here... According to your system specs you have an NVIDIA GeForce 9500GT 1GB? Is that correct? If not, what card do you have?

And you have problems with ATI's Catalyst Control Center not showing up?

In addition to that, you’re running build 7000 of Windows 7?

I have a Samsung 26" Windows 7 installs @ 59hz everytime it (re)starts.

In CCC it says 1920x1200 @ 60hz
The desktop area is too big for the screen area too! I don't know if that is a monitor setting - I looked and can't suss it out.

Works great on XP! Plug in, perfect desktop/60hz/text setup everytime!

I have to reset everytime manually to 60hz to enable correct screen text size that I like!
Sure are right about WIN7 wacky S**t - in parts!

oh sorry, old system specs on this forum, just updated them :]

I want to install the ATI Catalyst Control Center because of my mainboard, not because of my graphics card.
