Hi,

Ok..well if there was no artifacts and the temps were within tolerance then the roll back
of your drivers may have corrected the problem.

Monitor the situation, apart from boot up problem, are there any issues, artifacts, BSOD's etc?

In the meantime run these two tests:

Run SFC to check the integrity of all Windows 7 system files:

Click on the Start > Type in search cmd
Right click cmd at top and Run as Administrator
Type SFC /scannow at the prompt (note the space between SFC and /scannow)

:ar: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

Also please Run chkdsk /f/r in an elevated command prompt.

Click on the Start > Type in search cmd
Right click cmd at top and Run as Administrator
At the command prompt please type: chkdsk /f/r
(Note: there is a space between chkdsk and /f/r)

:ar: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html

Post back any result you find.

Cheers

Dave

Hi Dave,

Well I rolled back the driver and all worked fine for a week. Been booting up quicker then ever, no problems at all. Then ...... the other day I was playing MS Flight Sim X and all was fine. I paused the game whilst I had dinner (about 45 mins). When I went back the screen was frozen with fuzzy lines all the way through horizontal. The only way to turn the machine off was to hold the power button down. The machine now again wont boot up normally, though will boot up fine in safe modes. Its strange how it just happened after been ok.

Do you think its worth changing the PSU, if so which one could I change to, as as your aware my machine is a slim mini tower. Currently mine is the basic 220w.

Do you think its worth buying a new graphics card? But then I though Id need a better PSU wont I. My card now powers itself and is a low power, which is why im puzzled as to whats happened.

Sorry for the late reply.

As suggested by another member you will need to upgrade your PSU as 220w is insufficient
to run your Graphics card:

Suggested ATI Radeon™ HD 5450 512MB DDR3 System Requirements

  • PCI Express® based PC is required with one X16 lane graphics slot available on the motherboard
  • 400 Watt or greater power supply recommended
  • Certified power supplies are recommended. Refer to AMD Certified Power Supplies for a list of Certified products
  • Minimum 1GB of system memory
  • Installation software requires CD-ROM drive
  • DVD playback requires DVD drive
  • Blu-ray™ playback requires Blu-ray drive
Cheers

Dave
