ATI Remote Wonder & MC7?

Hi torrentg,
Thanks for replying me. I was losing hope.
Well, I have the exact same driver that you have, 6.0.0.210 dated 30/11/2006.
I'm running win 7 x64. Are you running this one or x86 version?
And something else I'm thinking about, are you running an other software to control the ati remote wonder like girder?

Perhaps it comes from one of this two stuffs... Don't know:huh:

Has anyone been able to install any ATI Remote Wonder (I or II) driver successfully without any errors and without any problems on Windows 7 (32 or 64bit)?

I use the ATI Remote Wonder (I/II) to control ZoomPlayer for media viewing... It works a lot better, with more features and functionality than Microsoft's Media Center when it comes to playing movies. But the driver v3.04 offered by AMD for XP does not work or install correctly without errors on Windows 7 so I went back to using XP.
Windows 7 is ok, but if I cannot use my ATI Remotes to control my media from my couch or bed, I will stick with XP because it works. So AMD should get off their asses, give some answers or respond to people requesting proper drivers for the ATI Remote Wonders that work with Windows 7 otherwise you know what you can do with Windows 7 don't you Microsoft.

Go into the device manager, under Universal Serial Bus Controllers is the ATI Remote Wonder. Right click it, choose properties, then go to driver tab. What version are you running. If it's different than mine, maybe I could help.

I'm running 6.0.0.210 dated 11/30/2006.

Edit: Here is the my driver in a .rar file. If yours is different, extract the .sys to Windows\system32\drivers, reboot.

Here is the solution that works for me...

Instal Xp driver 3.04, reboot. Instal Vista drivers from Remote Wonder? Plus Software for Windows Vista (32 bit) and restart.

It works fine for me. I tested all others solution from the topic and nothing, until i tryed this combination and it works :D

Have fun.

Btw, is there any newest page with plugins for this remote control?
Most of the plugins from previous page is not reachable any more :(

You star!

That last tip about using setup_rwplus_xp_vista.exe works perfectly. The Rmote Wonder icon appears on the taskbar right away!

Cheers.

Hi Guys, I've tried the latest to get my Ati Remote Wonder up and running but still get the error
"ATIRW.EXE
The program can't start because MFC71.DLL is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

The remote came with an All-In-Wonder 9800 which is no longer is use, is that my problem or can it run by itself?

I installed the dll it was talking about without success.
I have tried re-installing but no luck, any ideas will be greatly appreciated as I'd like to get my remote running again.

Hy guys,
I've used a diffrent aproach for my ati wonder remote control device.
I've tried diffrent ways to solve that issue and i mange it to work using the windows xp \Program Files\ATI Technologies folder copied to windows7 \Program Files folder.
Then i've copied the MFC71.dll file from windows xp \windows\system32 folder to windows 7 \windows\system32\ folder.
Next step is to restart computer and to verify in device manager if the driver signature is 6.0.0.210 dated 30/11/2006.
I hope my post will help ..

Well this has to be some kind of record 423 days last time someone posted in this thread.

Well i have bought it back to life, I am trying to get my remote wonder 1 working on a virgin install of Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

I have got my files from here
htpcforum.net - HTPC Discussion board • View topic - Ati remote wonder on Windows 7 64 Bit
when i try to copy the 4 dll files over to my windows/system32 folder 3 files go over fine but the last one msvcrt.dll will not copy over it just comes up saying
destination folder access denied: you need permission to perform this action
I have tried so many things it's untrue 2 whole days i have been working on this but with no luck.

I can get it working with x10 drivers but to be honest i'd rather have it showing up in device manager as remote wonder rather then x10 wireless device, so any help or suggestion welcome, i have to admit my experience of 7 IS limited so presume i know nothing.

Hi there!

My method was working on win7 x86 32bit.
I think if you will right click on windows folder and select "run as administrator" command you will be abble to copy the other file wich gives you access denied message!
Hope it will help you. If is not, reply and I will gladly advice you as soon as possible.
Success!

Thanks for the reply capkrane I was able to get it working in the long run, my problem was I was using a more up to date driver, in my case to get it work in win 7 x64 was to copy over 2 dll files (mfc71.dll & msvcr71.dll) into windowssystem32 folder, no issues with access denied message, reboot, install the vista drivers (setup_rwplus_xp_vista.exe) again reboot, and instal the multilanguage version, reboot, when i came back into windows i got 2 errors but again just rebooted and no more errors. :)

How ever not the end of my woes, i had major issues getting TV out to work with my old CRT 4:3 TV, so after 4 days i gave up went back to XP untill i can buy a new TV which will be in Jan sales, shame to be honest i like 7 an awefull lot and coming back to XP looks very dated.

Ati Remote Wonder w7sp1 64bit

Just to confirm what Jazzy posted on getting this remote to work, I tried other methods to no avail, but his method was just too simple to work, but it does!! I added a step, don't think it was necessary but I installed Ati 3.04 first in xp compability mode, the rebooted. Re installed use the (REPAIR OPTION) but this time not in compability mode. Reboot. Does not work yet, no remote icon in task bar. Installed ati vista/64 wonder plus driver and guess what! It works! Hope this can help anybody out there trying this endeavor. I really would go this route first, might save you alot time and grief! By the way somewhere along my trial an errors the ati usb remote driver got update, probably from the x10 driver set. I don't believe this is necessary either. Win7 installed a "stock" driver which would probably work fine. Just trying to cover all bases. If I where to do all over again I just stick with Jazzy's method. Cause simple is beautiful!

I know it's not entirely the answer to the question, but two years ago when I went from XP to Win7 x64 and couldn't get my Remote Wonder (which I'd been using with BeyondTV) to work with WMC, I decided just to go with the Microsoft WMC Remote (A9O-00007).

After a reasonable effort which was unsuccessful, I decided it just wasn't worth my time and trouble to see if I could get my Remote Wonder to work and simply found a standard Microsoft remote on the Internet and bought it. It's actually still running on the very same batteries I put into it 2 years ago!!! PERFECT SOLUTION, and the price was right!

There's a brand new one right now up for bid on eBay for all of $27.50.

I'm just sayin'...

Th ereason i like the remote wonder stuff is it's not IR, given my pc is about 20-30 feet away from the tv unit i'd have to run a 30 foot extension to put the reciever by the tv, otherwise i'd might move away from ati remote wonder

:D I finally got my "ATI Remote Wonder I" to work on Windows 7 Pro 64 bit thanks to Jazzy on this forum after 2 days searching the internet and trying different techniques that didnt work. After a fresh install of Windows 7, motherboard and graphics drivers, this is how i did it:

1. Plug in the Remote Wonder USB (I shut off the internet connection first, not sure if it makes a difference though but i didnt let windows update get a new driver for it)

2. Download and install Windows XP 32 bit Remote Wonder 3.04 software (found here -> Remote Control Software (Multilanguage) and then reboot. When you boot up again you will get a few errors from Windows. Just hit ok.

3. Download and install Windows Vista 32 bit Remote Wonder Software (found here -> Remote Control Software for Catalyst™ Media Center and Windows Vista Media Center (limited functionality)

After you do that you will see the remote icon in the bottom right hand corner of the taskbar and your remote wonder will now work!

You can click the taskbar icon up arrow and choose "show icon and notifications" for it to always appear in the bottom right if you dont see it at first. Im not saying you have to clean install Windows 7 Pro 64 bit but its just how i did it since i just reformatted everything recently. Just follow the 3 steps with the included files and it should work even if you installed Windows a long time ago.
