I see that in Event Viewer/Administrative Events I am getting an error message whenever I turn on the computer. There are two messages. One event is Event 43029 Task DAL and the other is Event 52236 Task CPLIB.

I have a Sapphire ATI card HD 4670 512mb. Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit.

I don't seem to have any problem with the computer or the graphics and some would say if it ain't broke don't fix it, but does anyone know what these error message mean please?

Hi Judesman

Have you tried updating your ATI graphics drivers to 10.3?

Driver download

You could also try to update your Direct X files to the Feb 2010 release

DirectX Feb 2010 (full)

Recommend you update the direct x files first and then the graphics card driver

Hope this helps and please post on your results

Regards

Hi Judesman

You do not need to remove the existing files or drivers.
The new installers will take care of those during the installation.
After downloading those files, click on the installer and let it run.

  1. DirectX files first -->right click on the downloaded file and click extract to folder(you will need to create a folder on your desktop, call it Direct x before extracting). Following extraction, within that folder you will find lots of files, look for the exe called DXSETUP.exe. Double-click on the DXSETUP.exe and allow it to complete the installation automatically.
  2. For the ATI driver, double click on the installer and just follow the prompts to complete the installation. Take care to write down any errors that you encounter during the installation.
  3. Reboot your PC following completion of the driver installation (you will get a prompt to do when the installation has completed).

Let me know if you still receive any error logs during the installation or if the existing error messages still remain following the reboot after driver installation.

Regards

Hi Lomai,

Well, following the two downloads I haven't had any more error messages so something has been achieved. I don't understand why an out of date driver would cause the error message or what DirectX does.

I do have some questions please;

Can I just delete the DirectX folder that I now have on my Desktop?

I now have in C/ProgX86/ATI/Customer Care/Turbine/Lotro. This is a link to a trial game that I do not want so can I delete that lot, folders and all?

The downloads appear to have taken up some 2Gb of Disk space. That suprises me as I believe that all they have done is replace existing files. Why would that be, any thoughts?

Thanks for all your help.

Judesman.

I wouldn't be too concerned with the 2GB. Feel free to delete the folder and installer on your desktop.

I'm having the same issue. I have W7 32-bit. Should I download just the video driver or do I need the whole Catalyst suite?

You do not need the Catalyst suite. I have seen it cause problems, and it's unnecessary unless you are using any of the special features.

OK. I have integrated graphics ATI RADEON 4200 so I went via that link on the ATI download site.

Whether integrated or not, the file download name is the same:

10-3_vista32_win7_32_dd.exe
