Audacity - Unable to record

I have no sound when the "Power" service isn't running. Does that make any sense?

No, makes no sense (like many of the sound problems in w7). Tested it, disabling power killed all sound on my machine too, and reported here as well. There must be some logic behind it all, but difficult to grasp. But once one has figured things out, all audio seems very stable and reliable.

In the white area right-click and tick Show Disabled Devices
Stereo Mix appears
Right-click and enable it
Restart Audacity

Thank you. I like audacity because it comes from sourceforge.net which is more of a trusted and safer less inrusive resource then most other free programs and sites. I did exactly what you said and it worked. Thanks again. Bill didn't take it away.... he just made it harder to figure out maybe by pressure from corporate interests who knows. to me its no different then a tape deck sound recorder and the radio in the old days. The internet now just taking place of the radio.
