All the best for the New Year to all of U!
I am trying to get XP mode to see the audio card installed in W7 64bit and working there. The MB on-board audio I can see, but this is not suitable. I have installed a M-Audio 2496 card, which I used to use in the XP machine.
Running XP mode I cannot see the card or select it as an input for some old programs I prefer using.
I tried installing it while in XP mode, but the only option I have available is remove existing installation.(already installed in W7)
So I uninstall the card software from W7, then restart XP mode and install, restart and still nothing.
In : System - Hardware devices - Sound controllers it does not show up.
Any ideas ?

XP Mode, as every Virtual PC virtual machine, can not access or use the hardware components of your host computer (except disks and drives). Instead virtual machines use their own emulated hardware. There simply is no way to change this, to install other sound or video controllers to XP Mode.

The emulated sound card in all vm's running in Virtual PC is a Soundblaster 16 compatible WDM card, and GPU is S3 Trio.

That is one of the main drawbacks of XP Mode. Whilst it does allow many applications to run as though they are running on a true XP system where they can't on Vista/Windows 7 using compatibility settings, there are some applications that can only run successfully on a native XP installation because of this hardware emulation limitation.

Thanks guys, didn't know that.
I'll have to record in W7 and then use files in XP.
