audio wont play on hd tv monitor

I have hooked my pc up to my 32 lcd tv and the picture shows fine but for some reason the audio is still playing out of my laptop i recently formated my pc and before i formated it the audio played through the television when the pc was hooked up to it useing the hdmi cables any suggestion

When I say at both ends, I mean true HDMI to HDMI. Not HDMI to the TV and a DVI to HDMI converter to the computer. Also as FZ21Z recommended, update your system and also fill in your system specs.

i dont know the diffrence in hdmi to hdmi and dvi

This is what an HDMI plug looks like: HDMI plug

That should be what's connecting to both your TV AND your computer. Sometimes computers have a port other than HDMI and you would use a small converter.

What audio drivers did you install?

Many require you to install a separate HDMI Audio driver. I'd say to head for the manufacturer's page for your soundcard or motherboard (if it's an imbedded chip) and see if there's a special driver for this.

I use an ASRock ION 330 for just this purpose and, yep... two drivers needed.

i fixed it i had to make my tv my default audio source whenever it gets hooked up
