Automatic system images or not?

Hullo again

Using Windows7 Home Premium, I have done a few backups (to external hard drives). I have taken the defaults everywhere including "Let Windows choose".

If I now go to "Manage Space", under "System Image" it says

System images are not being created automatically



If I go to "Change Settings", highlight my external drive as backup destination(there being no other choice) and click Next, the first paragraph on the next screen (which has its select mark checked) tells me

Windows will also create a system image...

My question is am I creating system images or not?

Using the system image screen, if the box is checked make a system image automatically, you are making an image. Every new one deletes the old. You will only have one on your drive.

Make sure that the box is checked to make an image automatically.

Click on "Turn on schedule" and you will get rid of that "automatic" message.

Personally, I manually backup and also do not have a "schedule"

An easy quick way to perform a System image backup is to click on "Create system image" in that left-hand task pane.

If you haven't already, I strongly, strongly suggest you make yourself a system repair disk by clicking on "Create a system repair disk". Sure will make you life easier if a minor disaster/problem arises.

I know that Karl will not agree with me, but if you want to make your life easy and understand what is happening, use this program for imaging. You can keep as many images as you like, schedule them whenever you want, you can easily mount the images (without Karl's elaborate tutorial - LOL) and retrieve individual files, manage everything yourself and you are not looking into a black box.
