AVG Free problem

black dog, you are right.... no one has been killed yet from computer viruses, but their identities have been stolen with the sale of thier critical information such as banking, credit card numbers and passwords.

I have seen it first hand, and it's pretty ugly :(

Same error, but only in 7077

I have been using AVG for some time. I noticed in build 7077 this red flag error that couldn't be resolved. Went back to 7068 (for other reasons too, the biggest of which is that 7077 breaks TMT3) and it's just fine.

Staying with 7068 until RC1 on my HTPC.

dc7, try resetting the Security Center.

Hi Jacee,
The only people i know who have claimed to have been hacked etc have lied about it. One was my idiot brother, who sold his house to finance the get rich quick schemes he was sure would make him mega rich. He told me his bank account had been cleaned out after being hacked. I later found all his correspondence with Nigerian type scammers (from Korea) when working on his computer. He had photocopied his Passport, Credit Cards and all the rest and sent them copies. He still tells everyone he was hacked.
Another guy i know gave his credit card details to a Prostitute who then went on a big online spendathon with it. He then claimed he must have been hacked. Unfortunately for him his wife went to the police about it and he had to fess up. :D
I wouldnt mind betting that the vast majority of home users who claim to have been hacked have not.

As a repair center manager, I have seen a plethora of home users become victims of identity theft, and it could have been avoided if they did not use Limewire, Bearshare, war3z, torrents, etc.............It's usually the goddamn teenagers that use the family PC for these activities.
