Solved avidemux trying to add mp3 to avi

running avidemux over win 7. have opened avi file in Avidemux and identified audio track. In Avidemux - Add Audio To Video - Replace Audio In Video | PCs Place it says to use pull down menu and choose add audio track. cannot find any menu with add audio track.

Click audio in the menu bar. Go select track. In the window that opens check track 1 enabled. In next field click dropdown and add audio track to browse to your audio. See snip

Thank you for your detailed response. It worked! I had posted this question on many other forums. Their responses reminded me of the old Settlement Cook Book where it often said "Cook Until Done".

It's a handy program. I use it a lot to boost low audio on movies -

video - copy
audio - select codec - filter - manual gain 12dB (say)

you can also do lossless edits, as long as you cut on I-frames

video - copy
audio - copy

I agree. Several of my clips have poor video. Avidemus separates out the audio easily. Audicity can often clean up the audio without the loss of sync. Then Avidemus rejoins the video and audio.

Another Avidemux tip - if a movie audio is out of sync, you can determine the ms shift amount (milliseconds = 1/1000 second)) by playing the problem movie in VLC and hitting J or K till it's in sync (this jumps the audio in +/- 50ms amounts), then re-muxing in Avidemux using the correct timeshift value from VLC in 'shift ms'.
