I recently bought a Windows 7 Family Pack and installed and activated it on 2 pc's. I also installed it on a thirth pc but haven't activated it so far (14 days left).

I choose not to activate because I waited for an answer if my Matrox P650 video card would or would not become Windows 7 supported (need dual screen setup). It turned out it ain't.

1. Can I still use my XP license to reinstall XP?
2. Do I now still have 1 unused Windows 7 activation left?

Hi there

You can install / re-install XP and activate it as many times as you like on the SAME computer it was originally installed on.

If you want to install it on a NEW computer then so long as it is a RETAIL copy (not an OEM / pre-installed version that came without a proper Microsoft system OS install disk) you also CAN re-install it but you'll probably have to go through the phone method of activations and explain you've moved the OS to a new machine.

Windows 7 activations will also work the same way of course.

Note if you ARE installing XP on a new machine you'll need to

1) "Slipstream " SP3 to it. Use nLite to build a bootable ISO.

2) Add the SATA drivers etc to it as well (another slipstream) otherwise it won't recognize your hard disks (on newer non IDE machines). Use things like Driverpacks for this.
