Back up onto partion

He's 14 and doesn't have any money for external. Might borrow his sisters to back up image. He can fit files on CD. So he'd have double back up with the data and image partitions.

Mitch, use these to do the cleanup and defrag. They're already uploaded for you to install:

Use the Cleaner and registry tabs on CCLeaner, then Defrag.

Then try to shrink Vista partition in Disk Management and see how much space it gives you.

What if i can fit all my files on Windows live Skydive?

I seem to have put half my files on there will still around 13GB space left on that. I only have to put pictures of there

That's why it's free :p

Did you ever figure out how much space your files take? CD is still an option since you have 1.4 gigs of CD there

I still strongly suggest you make a partition to save your Win7 Backup image so that you have an easy path back to your current installation if you get stuck during new install setup and nothing works to fix it.

Type backup in start search box, open Backup Center, click Create System Image, select DVD just to see how much disk space it wants, then shrink your Vista partition by that much space in Disk Management, format a Primary partition using this tutorial: Partition or Volume - Create New

I am here to help you

but what if the installtion goes wrong? How do i acess the image thing

I feel more comptable backing up all my files on external, but thats never ganna happen xD and i only have 256mb thumb drive which is nothing.

Grr Windows Live go faster!

Put your files on the CD's if they will fit..

Put the image on the partition. It can be accessed even if the HD isn't bootable by booting Win7 DVD Repair console>Recover using an Image. It will auto-detect the image on HD partition if you format it Primary.

Once you get the files on CD, I will give you step-by-step.

it wont fit with 700mb

i have way more junk than that so :l

i guess partion is only opition

Run the CCleaner as it opens up, without choosing Registry tab.

Did you run the Auslogics defragger? Very important to recovering Disk space.

its still the same as other screen shot

OK then shrink it by the full amount offered.

Use this tutorial to create new partition, name it DATA:

Partition or Volume - Create New

Copy your files over first, then we'll try to save a Backup Image there to see if it fits.

No need. Disk Management utility is completely safe and doesn't fail.

If you want to unshrink it you just Extend Volume to change it back.

Your path back will be the System Image we store in partition last. It will return the HD to the exact state it was when taken in case you get stuck or mess up at any time.

Even if the OS will not start up, the System image is accessed from the booted Win7 DVD.

is there a way i can see how much volume i have no so i can write it down
?
