Back up onto partion

It shows you exactly how much it will shrink the Vista partition.

It will show you the same amount when you proceed to Create the Partition using tutorial

Afterwards you can see how much size the parition ends up with by right clicking the new Data partition in Computer and looking at Properties.

No, why would you do that? It doesn't take that long to shrink, just minutes.

If you want us to help you, then you need to follow the steps carefully.

You will only mess things up if you don't follow the steps given.

well i had to go, Mum was rushing me

Can you restart Shrink Partition again?

Run the CCCleaner from the screen where it first opens, then run Defrag again. It might give up more space.

well i will when i get home...

Do what i did last time?

then start the shrinking?

It is important to get the cleanup and defragging done so you get max space.

That assures you can save your files, plus a backup image so you have no worries about recovery.

So run the CCLeaner screen that first opens up (not the registry cleaner this time), then run the Auslogics defragger again as it is much better than Win7.

Then open Disk Management and see how much it will shrink, take all it will give.

Now copy your data into it, folder by folder.

Open your User file and drag each folder (Pictures, Videos, Docs, etc) over to the DATA Partition listed in explorer at left.

Do not copy Programs, Programs Data, Windows, etc as they will not work anyway. Just from your User account, those folders you use.

okay there is one that takes about 1hr to move coz its a lot, so what is the next step while i wait for it to transfer?

Mitch, it's important to drag these folders yourself so you don't waste space. Don't use Easy Transfer!

Find your User file. Mine is called Administrator since I run as that. Yours will likely be your name.

Here is what mine looks like:

Capture.PNG

So just drag the Documents folder, for example, over to the tree on the left and drop it in the partition. Yours would be the DATA.

It should take a lot less than an hour that way. Easy Transfer is bloated mess.

isent that what im doing

Anyway i will be back in 30mins

So you dragged your whole User file? That'll work.

Now type Backup into Start search box. Select Backup and Restore at top from results.

In Backup Center, select Create a System Image.

Let it find the Data partition and see how much space is available for your backup image once your data is copied.

Then save the Image there. It takes about 15 minutes. If you can, only select the Win7 partition to image.

At any time, you can now reimage your HD in 15 minutes from the Win7 DVD Repair console.

Oh no, there is not enough space for the back up image, i think it need 134gb

oh and it doesnt give me the option just for vista

Do you want to use free Macrium Reflect to image just Win7 partition? It uses a Linux CD it will make for you?

It's up to you. A path back if needed.

Too frickin bad we can't use any more of that wasted Disk Space.
