What is a good free program to check for stuff running in the backround?

Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate (64-Bit Edition)
For normal monitoring, use Task Manager>Processes>click CPU heading.

To troubleshoot irregular CPU usage where services responsible are hard to pinpoint, Process Explorer is probably best.

To avoid having unnecessary programs running uncheck everything in msconfig>Startup except AV and gadgets/stikynotes if u use em.

Run a lightweight free AV like MS Security Essentials with the WIndows Firewall.
