If you made an image and then restore that image file to a hard drive you should not have to reactivate.

If MSI is some kind of a file by file backup then you may have to reactivate. But images include all licenses and registry settings and therefore should not require reactivation. I have no idea what MSI is--you would have to research how it works--image or otherwise.

You should not have to reactivate, but in case you do, there will be no problem. You merely have to supply your key. If it is not accepted because the system says thatit is already in use, you merely input your number with a touch tone phone.Possibly you may be transferred to a rep, but that will be the last step. You merely, have to explain to them, the facts and you will be elevated. Incidentally, I guess you know, if you do have to reactivate the MS, sticker will not appear on the lower right hand corner of the screen that appears after right clicking on the computer icon and then properties. Have a Happy and Healthy New Year.

Just an update....after hours on trying to restore the image I gave up.....so I decided to just do a fresh install but this time I had a terrible time with the cd/dvd driver error, after reading the sticky above none of the options worked for me. so I ended up finally finding a driver from one of my other disks I had laying around.....so I installed W7 and I did not have to reactivate.......go figure after all that time wasted lol.....thank for the help guys
