Hi, I'll post this here as I think this is a driver related issue. I was using my ps3 controller with xbox 360 emulation software Motioninjoy for some Windows games when it stopped working. However, I'm not asking for help with getting my controller back up and going. I tried for probably a couple hours working with that controller issue. I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver doing the x64 way at times rebooting under disable driver signature enforcement as required. The last time I booted this way all of a sudden I have no working USB, sound, nor net. I rebooted without any options and came to the same problem. Can't use my mouse because it's USB but my keyboard happens to be ps/2 so it works fine. I used my keyboard frustratingly to go through some troubleshooting and tried to install drivers only for them to not install successfully for unknown reasons by me. I dual boot so right now I'm on ubuntu. Anyone with ideas on how I can solve this completely ignorant problem I've come upon? Thanks in advance.

Hi ineedtonutt, welcome to the forums , have you tried a system restore to a date prior to when you started experiencing problems? http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html ;)

Tried that already. I tried it all. Shortly after I tried this I could no longer even load windows. It would get to the loading screen and reboot. After trying all I could I decided to reinstall windows. It's fully functional now up to my network. I'm wired yet it says there is no ethernet connected. It says identifying network then there's no network connections and just repeats that process over and over. Any ideas?

I've used my gigabyte disc for drivers and installed them for the network adapter but noting helped.

I no longer have net within ubuntu. Thankfully I have a laptop as well which is wirelessly connected thru the same router my desktop is wired to with no internet. Make sense? With ubuntu no net as well wouldnt that pretty much rule out a virus as the problem? I have a Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller. I'm now backing up files onto my external 1TB which I will then unplug and completely wipe and format my internal 2TB and start all over and see if I can solve this problem that way. Stranger things have happened. When I first set up this pc I booted up and spent probably hours just trying to get a display with two displays. 22inch thru DVI and 60inch thru HDMI. Did some research. I unplugged the sata hard drive and booted up. Presto. I had display. Maybe I should unplug the hard drive again. heh

First off I'd like to say the drivers on the disc that came with the mobo worked perfectly fine after my very first use of the HD with Win7. Which was about 2 months ago when I bought this pc with all brand new parts(off eBay)and put together. I did, however, try the updated drivers as well. No go. I have since used active@ killdisk and chose the army 3 pass kill. Then formatted the hd. Reinstalled windows 7 x64. Reinstalled the latest drivers you linked me.

This screen is what I am getting now. Before the troubleshooter stated there was no cable plugged in which there was.

I have also tried different ethernet cables. I'm connected to a linksys router so I tried connecting directly to the DSL modem. I have cable internet as well I use for my ps3. I tried plugging to the cable modem as well. Nothing works. I think that sorta narrows it down don't you think?

Well that got me back to this fun problem

It does that non-stop. I don't know about you but I'm voting for the network adapter to be shot. If you can think of something we haven't tried I'd be glad to try it but we have near covered it all it seems. Thanks.

* Media State Disconnected
* Ethernet Cable ubplugged

I have had the same problem and spent days scouring Google and trying any suggestion that I could find. Last night I found a post from 2002. It seemed ridiculous but I gave it a shot. PROBLEM SOLVED.

1.) Shut dowm your PC.
2.) Unplug the power cord.
3.) If you have a laptop, remove the battery as well.
4.) Walk away from the problem for at least 30 minutes.
5.) When you return, reconnect battery and power cord.
5.) Start as usual.
6.) If this solves the problem, take 20 minutes and post this to all of those message boards that you didn't find the solution to.

This fix appears to work for any OS/MOBO/NIC.

What causes it? I don't know.

Have a great day! :)

From Network cable unplugged but isn't

Would you believe that worked? Explain that one. Just like the one where I unplugged my hd to fix no display. I need help understanding that stuff. You may want to save and move this to some networking topic or something. May come in handy. Amazingly did for me. Blows my mind. I'm retarded now.
