In device manager under 'other' there is a yellow Based System Device. I try to update it and it gives me a error "no driver found". I got to dell and download the Richo chipset. I try to insta1l and I get this this error, "You have to run the 64bit version DPInst.exe on this machine."

So I put one and one together I believe this is causing the Based System Device error.

What do I do?

Here is what it says in propertise ID: (The system base error in yellow)

The one I download I can't open up because of the DPInstall.exe error, says:

The base sysem decive is you card reader form Ricoh.I know this isn't a Dell driver but It is a 64 bit driver for Vista which can be installed using compatibility mode. Simply download the driver right click on the setup.exe file.click compatibility tab> drop down menu> select Vista>check the box run in compatibility mode. Run the setup.exe file as administrator. They are fairly universal so hopefully this will work, Ricoh 5-in-1 Card Reader Host Controller and Driver for Microsoft Windows Vista (32-bit and 64-bit) HP Pavilion dv2514tx Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English) Post back please. Okay so here is what happen and it pisses me off:

Dell took the driver, and only release the 32bit part of it for download.
They refuse to give me the 64bit and insist i buy another computer or laptop from them that already has 64bit drivers.
Then I remembered something when I first installed windows 7 I got that driver from HP, which happen to be site link you had, Fabe.
However when trying to run it I got the same Ipinstall error. But when I open the content it had X86 and 64 inside so I extracted direct from 64 and it worked.

Don't know why dell took the 64 out of there package, it freaking ridicuslous. Isn't that illegal to try and (cant think of the word) but keep a computer from upgrading?

Hooray, i had to download and extract the .exe and then looked at the inf files. The PCI ID was in one of them so i knew 99.99% it will work.
