Battery Life Time Remaining

I have a HP Pavilion laptop and when I hover over the battery icon it tells me the percentage of battery left but I was wondering if their was a way to get it to show me how much time I have left? I have seen other pc's with Windows 7 have this and I was wondering if mine can do this also. Thanks

The time has served me well. I'm not picky about the preciseness but occasionally need a ball-park of time remaining.

Having a ballpark is nice, but once my netbook shows 1 hour left, I shut it down completely, because 1 hour based on 1 IE open is far from watching 1 hour of video or multitasking. And 1 hour on a laptop can drain quicker than you may think even on sleep.

Power saver mode 6 hours, hi-performance 3 hours and on the ASUS the estimates are very reliable. Guess I'm lucky.

Thanks everyone I was just seeing if there was any way to make it appear next to percent remaning at the bottom. Maybe HP does not support that function.

Battery care provides both % and time in it's icon and if the time information is not directly available it has an option to calculate it's own estimate.

also you can disable the native windows icon and just show the single icon

Not saying it's not accurate, just saying it's accurate based on ????? For example my Acer netbook has an "accurate meter", IF, emphasis on IF, I do the same thing continuously. If I start it up and it says 6 hours left, and all I do is have one browser open and just browse the internet, then yes it will last about 6 hours. If it says one hour and 20 minutes left, and I then decide to launch Netflix and stream an HD movie, turn on the bluetooth and make a long distance Skype call, plug in my ipod to USB to charge it, the battery is dead in less than 20 minutes. So "accuracy" is based on how it came up with that time and hoping it stays constant.

Hi guys, I have an Asus laptop which keeps telling me that i have 10 hours of batt left despite my continuous usage. So while the % decrease every 30mins, the hour estimator still states 10 hours on the dot. The only time the hour estimator changes is when i reboot the laptop. Even then it fluctuates between 8 hours and 5.7hours. Mind you i don't actually do much other than using Office and the internet.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a faulty battery (built-in software not hardware), if you try batterycare (see previous post) there is an option to use it's own calculation algorithm which may give you better estimates

I've got a HP Pavilion DV6(i think its 3000) and it doesn't calculate the time remaining. I get about 3 1/2 hours battery life. Do I need to install software to fix this or just edit something? If you know please reply.

i have the same question, on my previous laptop i used to see both percentage and total minutes remaining without using a gadget, but now i cant see it on my HP laptop?
plus: i dont know why there are irrelevant answers to a question asked by lsufrontier why dont you guys start a new topic for your other issues?

Hello, I was wondering this too a while ago.
I myself also have a Compaq\HP laptop too.(It's about to be 3 years Old)
My computer doesn't have that feature either, so I got Battery bar. (Above is the link to it)
Buy I really didn't need it, so I uninstalled it now.
But it did work for me.
