I have found a shop that has got a few of the Battlefield series for PC. If I buy them will they work or will it end up like Call of Duty on Steam saying the serials numbers have already been used?
Also are they single player or multiplayer?

Hi,

They will be both single and multi-player, although the game is primarily designed around the multi-player experience. Unfortunately, it is highly likely that the "keys" have already been registered so you may very well find you cannot access the multi-player option.

Probably best to buy them fresh if you are intent on playing the multiplayer mode.

Regards,
Golden

There are a few retail games that can be activated through Steam.

But just like with any other Steam game, once that key is used thats it. It is no good anymore, and the game is permanatly tied to your account.

You may be able to contact Steam support, with a proof of purchase & key you have, they might be able to get your CoD actiavted on your account.
But it takes a while.

Retail versions of Battlefield however, can not be activated through Steam unless purchased through them.
But you can add the game to your library and it will launch the shortcut for you.

Battlefield will use EA's system. Which, if I recall works the same way as Steam does. I can't remember for sure, but I believe it uses a 1 use key, and ties the game to your EA account, like Dragon Age & Mass Effect 2 does.

EA may be able to help if you show proof of purchase & the key that was with the game as well, but like Steam, it could take a while.

At any count, I would not purchase any game if theres any possibility it was used or opened for these reasons. Without knowing the account details the key is registered to, it may not be playable at all, unless Customer Support can help.

I'm only into single play.

Then you do not really want any of the Battlefield games unless it is Bad Company 2, as it is the only one so far that has a true single player component. All the others (BF1942, BF2, BF2142) the single player in them is nothing more than the same maps used for multi-player but you play against bots, there is no single player campaign or story to them at all.

After buying and installing I find Battlefield 2, 1942, Deluxe a waste of space for single play. I have now deleted them. I will take them back to the charity shop so they can resell them. Thank goodness for COD games.
