I am running Windows 7 Home Premium with an Ethernet cable. After Microsoft updated my computer earlier today (165MB), I went to enable my Local Area Connection to get on the internet and I got the following message:

BA126F01-2166-11D1-00805FC1270E

I had to click yes to continue.

When I want to disable my internet connection I have the same message appear and have to click yes to continue.

Why is this happening, and what can I do to get rid of the error message. This message never occurred before the updates.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Rob

Did you mean this GUID?
{BA126F01-2166-11D1-B1D0-00805FC1270E}

If so, then it's likely that you have registry problems.

However, there was one update that MS have pulled this month, and before attempting remedials, it may be a good idea to uninstall it, if it has been installed.

Look in the list of Installed Upadtes for KB3004934 and if you find it, uninstall it then reboot twice.

post back with your results.

My apologies, yes it should be BA126F01-2166-11D1-B1D0-00805FC1270E.
Looking through the updates, I have found “Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3004394)” under Importance it is classed as Recommended which was installed earlier today. Unfortunately, I cannot find an update for KB3004934.

You need to uninstall KB3004394 if you find it in the Installed Updates listing - that may solve your problems.

I uninstalled KB3004394, restarted the computer and found that the Action Centre had two issues, under Spyware and unwanted software protection, Norton 360 had been turned off so had Windows Defender. I turned Norton 360 back on but could not turn on Windows Defender. Restarted again. Local Area Connection working again and Norton 360 turned on but Windows Defender is now out of date. What should I do about Windows Defender?
