Hi guys I am Andrew and I recently installed the Beta Release of Windows 7 well the issue I am having is that when ever I run the CD it says that it is not compatible, well I am using an F5D7050 adapter and a 1444 router. So is there anyway to bypass it to make it think it is Vista? It is compatible with Vista, Xp, and previous versions. Also after upgrading is there a way to downgrade back to XP which is what I am running, Windows XP Pro SP3.

Thanks!
Andrew.

Will that absolutely work? Also how would you downgrade back to XP if you don't mind answering that?

It *should* work - whether it will absolutely or not I cannot answer as I am not using Belkin *anything* in my house.

As for 'downgrading' - ummm, I am assuming that you did *not* upgrade to W7, that you in fact have a new install of W7 sitting next to XP on a different partition, right?

I am running XP now. So in that tutorial does the "extend" section during installation create a new partition?

My Computer

No - you'll need to Use the second tutorial I posted to use the Windows 7 installation disk to shrink your XP partition and then install W7 in the free space that is created.

Windows 7 provides a generic Wireless USB LAN driver.

Select "Locate and install a driver manually" from the "Update Driver" button from the Driver Properties in Device Manager

This worked for my Linksys USB wireless Adapter in Windows 7 64bit.

Then after it downloads right click on the icon and select troubleshoot compatibility... Use earlier version as Windows XP

Your computer will reboot after install and you will be good to go!!!

As for the Partition Part, you can do it the way that johngalt said to do it (no offense here) or you can do it the simplier way. When you install W7 create 2 partitions in addition to the 200MB partition W7 creates. It will be measured in MB to create the partition so have a calculator around (1024MB=1GB) you'll need around 25GB MIN to run W7. once you create 2 partitions, continue installing W7 on one and then install XP on the other one.

AJ,
Thanks for the tip. I followed your instruction while installing the Belkin USB Wireless Adapter Model F5D8053 v.3000 and worked. Before that, I had the same problem as described earlier in the threat.

i found the FD8053 V3 drivers didnt work for me in 64 bit... but this post here: http://www.sevenforums.com/hardware-devices/42703-belkin-f5d8053-n-wireless-usb-adapter-problem.html shows you how to get them from RALINK and get them working, worked for me,

I also emailed Belkin explaining (politely) how i felt it was appalling that they hadnt done their drivers yet... i got a short reply pointing me to the broken drivers and a ban fro the support section (where you can email them) nice customer service there....

Is Belkin going to make a native driver for the wireless g adapter? And if one exists already can you give me
a direct link to it?

Thank you.

Belkin F5D7050 Network adapter problem. Windows 7

I have recently installed Windows 7 as a fresh installation, removing my previous xp. I have tried all of what has been written above, (And elsewhere) and cannot get my Belkin F5D7050 `g` Network adapter to install. Using version x4 of the driver update it runs through the process but when Windows restarts it cannot recognise the software through Device Manager. I also have an alternative Ethernet Connection to my Net Gear Router, (Currently connected to a 2nd PC running XP) but Windows 7 doesnt recognise this either through my Win 7 Connection. I have thought of Updating the software in my Router but if this is as unsuccessful I will be left with no internet from which to solve my problems.

Should I try re-installing Windows? or go back to xp and throw Win 7 in the bin?

If anyone can help?

G
