best boot order in win 7

Hi,

Maybe stupid question....but even so:

My laptop boot order is HDD/SSD, USB,DVD,....

Should I change it?
It will be better to start by the DVD?

Of course I may change it hiting F2 and then go back again to another order!

Hi,

It depends on what you are trying to do. If you are trying to boot straight to the installed Windows, then that order is fine.

I usually set USB first so I don't have to remember the to change the boot order if I am booting from a USB.

If you are a plain vanilla user, then HDD/SSD, DVD/CVD, USB.

I'd probably leave it at HD, DVD, USB---and then use the built-in menu to make one-time changes to boot order as needed.

I used to always go with DVD, HD USB, figuring that the usually empty DVD drive would be quickly bypassed in favor of the HD during the boot process. That worked fine for years, but then I ran into a BIOS (Gigabyte) that spent 20 seconds during every boot trying to find a disc in the DVD drive, rather than quickly skipping it.

So, I went back to HD, DVD, USB to save the 20 seconds and use the menu as needed.
