By "best" I'm assuming you mean in terms of speed. Internet Explorer 9 is apparently the fastest web browser for Windows 7. To be completely honest, I've never noticed a difference in browser speed since Firefox 3.6.

tweaking Firefox or Waterfox?

Would you be willing to share your tweaks? I've used FF for several years but in the last year, it is unable to open so many sites, argues and freezes when coding isn't perfect, that I'm getting really tired of trying to track down its latest "problem".

I started using Chrome which is fast and ok, addons just don't compare, but then I discovered that Chrome can only be installed on Drive C. I have a small SSD running the OS on C and I would really appreciate it if Chrome didn't think it had to share the SSD.

Firefox Tweaks:
All depending on your connection and your rig of course but generally what you want to tweak are:

Open up a new tab and go to "about:config" (without the "")

Enter "connections" in the search bar and find the following

network.http.max-connections
network.http.max-connections-per-server
network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy
network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server
network.websocket.max-connections

all of those you generally want to set higher than they are set. However, the higher you set them, the higher the strain on your system. Also, don't up these if you have a slow internet connection.

enter "cache" in the search bar

print.always_cache_old_pres

This you want to set to true. It loads pages out of Firefox's cache when you go back, making for a seemingly faster user experience.

enter "pipelining" in the search bar

network.http.pipelining

make sure this is set to true.
There will be some more pipelining settings, again, you can set the maxrequests one higher if it suits you.

Hope this helps a bit.

For a GUI-aided tweaking of these settings (and some more), look for FasterFox among the Firefox add-ons (it works with the latest versions), this addon lets you set these as well with explaining them as well :)

I hope this could help you

Crazy Browser! It's so similar to IE.

I have been using that for years and it's something that I prefer more than IE!!!!

Here are the pro's of Crazy Browser:

rarely crashes
program is small in size
low memory usage
can close program during downloading
you can customize the interface - easily
pick toolbars and buttons to be displayed
make it as simple or complicated as you want
options are very simple
security settings are very easy to setup by 2 or 3 clicks
you can turn off your audio, video, javascript, active X, and java applets
built in pop-up blocker
customizable content to block ads & sites

It's the only one that I trust!

IMHO, use whatever browser you like as long as it provides alert on malware and other unwelcome stuff that operates hidden in our system! Got hit many times, IE, chrome and Opera got corrupted.Ouch!!! I wished I could opened up all these browsers and repair them ( command lines/script I meant.).

I started using Mozilla Aurora about six months ago, and (as default browser) I haven't looked back.

I heard it was slightly unstable and that it updated all the time. Well, I haven't found it unstable and the updates just run in the background.

On my machine it is very fast indeed.

Nah, there is no setting up firefox in a wrong manner, unless you messed with its internal settings. Firefox may require a lot of RAM usage, and it may be that your computer system just is a little slower than others.

There is a handy little WebBrowser integrated into the OS called IE9. Clutter-free and fast as well. For XP, I used firefox (because Chrome is butt-ugly). It did the job better than IE8. For Windows7, I use IE9. It does the job better than both firefox and IE8

But hey, the main reason I like it so much is because it is a part of the OS and is already streamlined. Everyone has different taste, so whichever you prefer is going to be the one you use. :)

"Best" is a very broad statement. Are you looking for the best functionality, most features, speed, easy UI, etc... Aside from Google Chrome, which is hit or miss depending on the machine, Firefox is the best browser. It's just as fast as Google Chrome (when Chrome doesn't crash) but it's more stable than Chrome. The UI Is fairly minimal, not the prettiest, but it's easy to get used to, and feels kinda like Chrome on a good day. Next up would be Opera, while not as pretty/ easy to use, it's still very fast. And I'd place Safari over IE9 when it comes to security, but that's about it. As slow as IE is, Safari on a PC is a nightmare (at least in my experience).

What'sss the best browser for Windows 7? And if it's Firefox, which version? I use Chrome but it crashes WAY too much.

Without a doubt, Firefox. Try watching the Olympics streaming in 1080p on IE, Chrome and Firefox. Firefox wins hands down, it is flawless where the other browsers jump around and lag terribly - they can't keep up and pause buffering. It is better than the others in many (almost all) other ways.
