  • A MLC will last about 3 times longer than a TLC under extreme conditions.
  • Under average use a MLC has an approx. 10 year lifespan, a TLC about 5.
This, of course, ignores strategies to reduce writes and prolong the life of the drive.

Thanks Jim. What I took away from the article is that the 830 series is the best way to go since they say fewer bits per cell increases longevity.

I wish authors would explain things instead of saying TLC, MLC, MDX, and P/E. Well into it I found P/E must mean program/erase.

All in all I don't fret over my SSDs wearing out and I even defragged one of them.:p
