10 year Warranty of new SSD's is to appeal to the "non Geek market" who have probably heard that SSD drives are less reliable than spinners. If a manufacturer gives a 10 year warranty they are really standing behind the product. Like I said early this year when OZC went bust this is the year SSD drives become mainstream. I expect many of the better quality laptops and desktops will come with an SSD and a 1TB spinner for this years holiday market since the price and quality is right. So far 4 of our machines have SSD boot drives and the 5th drive is on its way.

That is a good deal for an 840 EVO and anyone considering one should jump on it.
I wonder when an 850 EVO will come out? The 850 Pros are due out soon and, already, the 840 Pros are plummeting in price. When the 850 EVOs come out, the prices for the 840 EVOs should really drop. Being the cheap, old, bi...broad I am, I probably won't replace any of my Sammy's (one older 128GB 840 Pro and two 500GB 840 EVOs) unless they die on me (they wouldn't dare!).

As far as I'm concerned a rebate is a gimmick. They offer $ off what you pay, if you apply and send in the UPC code and the receipt and the form, sometimes. Then they say you didn't send the necessary items or didn't get it in time to qualify. Sometimes, you do get it, 6 months later. I never buy anything based on a rebate.

I bought a lot of products with rebates and never had any problems getting my money. But I have a wife who is expert in filling out the paperwork. I myself would have certainly failed.
I also never had any problems with Newegg. But I know that some members had really bad experiences with the company. I only noticed that there seem to be more complaints about them in recent times than in previous years.
I understand that Newegg plans to start business in Europe (UK) where they will compete with companies like Alternate. I dealt a couple of times with the German branch of Alternate and compared to them, Newegg is wonderful. Alternate did not want to refund a defective product because I had opened the package (how else could I have found out whether it works). I ended up getting 70% of my money back (after threats from my lawyer).
